Timothy George Fay [1] is a lieutenant general of the United States Air Force who last served as the Director of Staff of the United States Air Force from April 1. Prior to this, he was the deputy chief of staff for strategy, integration and requirements. [2]

Fay was commissioned after graduation from the United States Air Force Academy in 1987. His swear in ceremony was held on July 6, 2022, with an effective date of September 1, 2021. [3]

Because the Academy is a Direct Reporting Unit, the superintendent reports directly to the Air Force Chief of Staff. The superintendent oversees all aspects of the Academy, including military training, academics, athletics, admissions and the base infrastructure.

The Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force was a position in the United States Air Force held by a lieutenant general who also served as the director of the Air Staff. The holder of the position oversees the administration and organization of the Air Staff, which develops policies, plans and programs; establishes requirements; and provides resources to support the Air Force's mission. He also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Air Force Council, and is the Air Force accreditation official for the international Corps of Air Attachés.
