Toledo is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] Toledo is located in the valley of the Little North Fork White River, approximately four miles north of Thornfield and Missouri Route 95. [2] [3]

History

Toledo was formerly called Benners. [4] A post office was established as Benners in 1898, the name was changed to Toledo in 1910, and the post office closed in 1942. [5] The present name is a transfer from Toledo, Ohio. [6] Little remains of the original community since much of the surrounding area was given over to the Mark Twain National Forest. [4]

The Ozark–Douglas county line is approximately one–half mile north of the town. A few businesses and homes are located there.

Thornfield is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Gainesville, on Route 95 at the Little North Fork of the White River on the edge of the Mark Twain National Forest between Wasola to the northeast and Longrun to the southwest. Hammond, the site of the historic Hammond Mill, lies on the Little North Fork 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of Thornfield. Although it is unincorporated, Thornfield has a post office with ZIP code 65762.

Sycamore, Missouri Community in Missouri, U. S. A.

Sycamore is an unincorporated community in eastern Ozark County in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 181, approximately fourteen miles northeast of Gainesville. The old townsite is located on a ridge on the west side of Bryant Creek, a major tributary of the North Fork River. The old Hodgson Mill and spring lie on Bryant Creek 0.8 mi (1.3 km) to the northeast. The mill was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as Aid-Hodgson Mill in 2001.

Romance is located in a valley at the confluence of two smaller streams with Ludecker Creek. It lies on state route Y, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Missouri Route 5 and 2.3 miles (3.7 km) north of Willhoit. The Romance fire tower sits atop a knob at 1,490 feet (450 m), about 2.5 miles east.

Pond Fork is a stream in western Ozark County, Missouri. Pond Fork has its source in the northwest corner of Ozark County and flows south-southeast passing under Missouri Route 95 between Thornfield and Longrun to its mouth at the northern branch of Bull Shoals Lake just northeast of Theodosia. Prior to the filling of Bull Shoals, Pond Fork was a tributary to the Little North Fork White River which it joined just north of Theodosia.

Pondfork is an unincorporated community in northwest Ozark County, Missouri, United States. Pondfork lies on the Hay Hollow tributary to Pond Fork Creek, which lies to the west. The community is approximately three miles west-southwest of Thornfield. Access is via Missouri Route D, from Missouri Route 95 to the southeast. Pondfork lies within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Sharp is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. The village location is one-quarter mile south of US 160 between Caulfield and Tecumseh at the head of Hickory Stump Hollow.
