Udall is an unincorporated community in the Bayou I Township of Ozark County, in southern Missouri, United States, located approximately 12 miles southeast of Gainesville and eight miles west of Bakersfield on Missouri Route O. One and one-half miles west of Udall, the road ends at a park and landing on Norfork Lake. [1]

History

An early variant name was "Saint Leger". [2] A post office called Saint Leger was established in 1848, the name was changed to Udall in 1885, and the post office closed in 2003. [3] According to legend, the present name Udall is a contraction of "You doll, get up", a command, the story continues, was once overheard directed at a horse. [2]

It is located on the North Fork River at the north end of Norfork Lake, approximately ten miles east of Gainesville and 32 miles west of West Plains on U.S. Highway 160. Sycamore is an unincorporated community in eastern Ozark County in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 181, approximately fourteen miles northeast of Gainesville. The old townsite is located on a ridge on the west side of Bryant Creek, a major tributary of the North Fork River. The old Hodgson Mill and spring lie on Bryant Creek 0.8 mi (1.3 km) to the northeast. The mill was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as Aid-Hodgson Mill in 2001.

It is located on U.S. Highway 160, approximately five miles east of Gainesville and five miles west of Tecumseh, which is at the north end of Norfork Lake. The community is on a ridge between Bryant Creek to the east and Pine Creek to the west and is located on Missouri Route FF. Zanoni, on Missouri Route 181, lies approximately two miles to the northwest. The community church is one and one-half miles west on Caney Creek and Missouri Route AA. The Pine Creek confluence with Bryant Creek is one and one-quarter miles to the south, at the north end of Norfork Lake.

Pondfork is an unincorporated community in northwest Ozark County, Missouri, United States. Pondfork lies on the Hay Hollow tributary to Pond Fork Creek, which lies to the west. The community is approximately three miles west-southwest of Thornfield. Access is via Missouri Route D, from Missouri Route 95 to the southeast. Pondfork lies within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Prestonia is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. The Prestonia site lies on a ridge above East Pidgeon Creek and is southwest of Howards Ridge. The Missouri-Arkansas border is approximately one mile to the south and Norfork Lake is about four miles to the east. Access is from Missouri Route J via county road J529.

Nance is an extinct town in eastern Taney County, in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place. The townsite sits above the east bank of the west fork of Big Creek about one mile north of U.S. Route 160 and about 1.7 miles west of the Taney - Ozark county line. The site is at an elevation of 876 feet.

Ozark Beach is an unincorporated community in Taney County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The site is on the shoreline of Lake Taneycomo, approximately one mile west (upstream) of Powersite Dam.
