Tomara Thomas is the stage name of Thomas Adams, [2] [3] a British drag performer. She is best known for competing on the fifth series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK .

Early life and education

Tom Adams was born to Sharon and Jason Adams in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. He began taking dance classes at age 10. [1] Adams started doing drag at age 14 under the name "Tamara". [4] [1] His dance teacher helped him create the name for his drag persona. He attended Manor College and has studied musical theatre. [2] [5]

Career

Adams has worked as a professional dancer, including on cruise ships. [2]

Tomara Thomas was part of a drag trio that performed as Interval Act during the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, [6] [7] and she competed on series 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race UK . Tomara Thomas impersonated Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire for the Snatch Game challenge. [8] She was a top three finalist.

Personal life

Adams is from Hartlepool and has lived in London to study musical theatre. [2] [9] He moved back to Hartlepool after the COVID-19 pandemic. [5] Adams uses the pronouns he/him out of drag and she/her in drag. [10]

RuPaul's Drag Race UK is a British reality competition television series based on the American television series of the same name. The television series, a collaboration between the BBC and World of Wonder, premiered on 3 October 2019. The show is the fourth installment of the Drag Race franchise, and the second fronted by RuPaul. The show documents RuPaul and a panel of judges' search for "the United Kingdom's next drag superstar", the first series title dubbed "UK's First Drag Superstar".
