Cheryl, formerly known as Cheryl Hole (born 18 October 1993), is the stage name of Luke Underwood-Bleach, an English drag queen from Chelmsford in Essex who is known for being one of the first contestants on the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK (2019), [2] as well as the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World (2022), [3] and the second season of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. the World (2024). Personal life

Luke Underwood was born in 1993 and raised in Chelmsford in Essex. [5]

On the 24 September 2021, Underwood and his partner, Haydn Bleach, married; upon which their last names were double-barrelled to Underwood-Bleach. [6]

Career

Underwood-Bleach began doing drag under the stage name "Cheryl Hole" sometime in the 2010s; his [lower-alpha 1] [7] act is based on former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. [8] [9] [10] On 3 April 2019, Underwood-Bleach and his then fiancé took part in the Comedy Central show Your Face Or Mine? hosted by Jimmy Carr and Katherine Ryan. [11] [12]

On 21 August 2019, Cheryl Hole was announced as one of the ten contestants to be competing in the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK . [13] In the sixth episode, she lip synched to Cheryl's "Call My Name" in front of guest judge Cheryl, eliminating Blu Hydrangea from the competition. He was eliminated in the seventh (and penultimate) episode after losing a lip sync to Baga Chipz to Amy Winehouse's "Tears Dry on Their Own" (2007). [14] Cheryl Hole placed fourth overall. [15]

On 28 November 2019, Cheryl Hole, alongside the cast of series one of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, embarked on a 12-gig UK tour, [16] hosted by Drag Race alum Alyssa Edwards. [17] [18] In December 2019, Cheryl Hole was unveiled as Virgin Media's Christmas "fairy gift mother" for their Christmas campaign giving gift and surprises to Virgin Media customers. [19] [20] In July 2020, Cheryl Hole started a new podcast called Girl Group Gossip produced by World of Wonder, [21] where she is joined by a co-host and a special guest related to the topic of that episode. [22] [23] In November 2020, Cheryl Hole joined RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 1 winner The Vivienne on the UK version of the Netflix YouTube series I Like to Watch for three consecutive episodes. [24]

In January 2022, Cheryl Hole was announced as one of the nine contestants on the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World . [3] After falling into the bottom for his performance in the ball challenge, she was eliminated by Janey Jacké from the first season of the Dutch franchise, who won the lip sync against Canada's Drag Race season 1 contestant, Jimbo. Cheryl Hole was the second queen eliminated in the competition, ultimately placing eighth overall, and released her debut single "Need the Power" on 11 February 2022 after the aforementioned elimination. [25] The single was co-written by Cheryl Hole alongside the creative team behind fellow Drag Race star Priyanka's Taste Test EP. [26] Cheryl Hole released the song's music video the same day, [27] featuring numerous guests including fellow RuPaul's Drag Race UK stars Vanity Milan, River Medway, and Elektra Fence. [28] In March 2022, Cheryl Hole was announced to have been voted by his RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World castmates as the season's Miss Congeniality, sharing the title with Janey Jacké and Jujubee, with Pangina Heals and Blu Hydrangea casting their vote for Cheryl. In 2022, Underwood-Bleach made his West End debut in the play Death Drop . [30]

Underwood-Bleach appeared on the 16 August 2023 edition of BBC One's Celebrity MasterChef . Speaking to BBC News before the appearance, he highlighted issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and said the appearance of LGBTQ+ people on television was a chance to "have our voices and stories heard and show we're nothing to be feared". [31]

In 2024, Cheryl Hole returned again to compete on the second season of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. the World . [4] [32]

I Like to Watch is a 2019 American web series hosted by drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova. The series was created by Netflix, and streams on the company's YouTube channel. I Like to Watch films its hosts as they view and react to various Netflix Original Programming and licensed films streaming on Netflix. The first season aired from November 21, 2019, to March 21, 2020. A second season, recorded in the duo's homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, premiered on May 23, 2020. The third season, still recorded from home but with the hosts together in person before moving to a new set, premiered on February 20, 2021. The series won a People's Voice Webby Award in 2022. RuPaul's Drag Race is an American reality competition television series, the first in the Drag Race franchise, produced by World of Wonder for Logo TV, WOW Presents Plus, VH1 and, beginning with the fifteenth season, MTV. The show documents RuPaul in the search for "America's next drag superstar". RuPaul plays the role of host, mentor, and head judge for this series, as contestants are given different challenges each week. Contestants are judged by a panel that includes RuPaul, Michelle Visage, one of three rotating judges, as well as one or more guest judges, who critique their progress throughout the competition. The title of the show is a play on drag queen and drag racing, and the title sequence and song "Drag Race" both have a drag-racing theme.

Airline Inthyrath, known by her stage name Jujubee, is an American drag queen, reality television personality, and recording artist from Lowell, Massachusetts. She first rose to prominence in 2010 as a contestant on the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and later returned to compete on the first and fifth seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, and the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World (2022), becoming one of the most popular queens from the franchise. She has the unique distinction of being the only contestant to reach the finale of the competition four times. <i>RuPauls Drag Race All Stars</i> American reality television series

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars is an American reality competition spin off edition of the original RuPaul's Drag Race, which is produced by World of Wonder, for Logo TV and later VH1. The show premiered on October 22, 2012, on Logo TV, before relocating to VH1. However, it was announced on February 20, 2020, on the show's official Twitter account that the fifth season would premiere on June 5, 2020, on Showtime. Following the cast announcement on May 8, 2020, producers announced that the show would remain airing on VH1 instead of Showtime due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused "various scheduling and programming adjustments". On February 24, 2021, Paramount+ announced via Twitter that the streaming service would be the new home to the series for the sixth season.

"Break Up (Bye Bye)" is a song recorded by British drag girl group the Frock Destroyers for the Girl Group Battle Royale challenge during their stint on the first series of the reality television competition, RuPaul's Drag Race UK. During the episode the contestants had to create girl groups to participate in the challenge; there were two versions of the song released, the first being by Divina de Campo, Baga Chipz and Blu Hydrangea. The alternate version was released by Filth Harmony, consisting of Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, Cheryl Hole and Crystal, however the latter did not chart. The song was released on 31 October 2019. The song was also included in the band's debut album, Frock4Life, which was released 11 December 2020. The song was primarily written by Leland and Freddy Scott with De Campo, Chipzs and Hydrangea writing the lyrics for their individual verses.

RuPaul's DragCon UK is a fan convention and expo of drag culture held in London, UK. The convention debuted on 18 January 2020. It is based on the successful RuPaul's DragCon LA and NYC, which are related to the popular television show: RuPaul's Drag Race.

In 2022, he addressed his background in the BBC documentary film Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud, and in an episode of the documentary series God Shave the Queens.
