Thomas Simons (born 9 April 2004), better known as TommyInnit ( /ˈtɒmiˌɪnɪt/ TOMM-ee-inn-it [2] ), is an English YouTuber and Twitch streamer. He produces Minecraft -related videos and live streams, including collaborations with fellow YouTubers and streamers in the Dream SMP. [3] [4] Joining the Dream SMP caused his YouTube and Twitch channels to increase in popularity. [5] As of 24 April 2023, his eleven YouTube channels have collectively reached over 27.74 million subscribers [lower-alpha 1] and over 2.82 billion views; [lower-alpha 2] [6] his two Twitch channels have reached over 9.02 million followers, [lower-alpha 3] making him the most-followed Minecraft channel on Twitch, [7] as well as the 16th most-followed overall. Early life

Thomas Simons [7] [10] was born in Nottingham, England [11] on 9 April 2004. [12] During secondary school, Simons cheated on some of his mock examinations. The COVID-19 pandemic caused these grades to be counted as his official GCSE grades, as well as some of his lower grades to be rounded up to be significantly higher. [13]

Career

YouTube

Simons created his first YouTube channel, Channelnutpig, on 15 February 2013 [14] and his TommyInnit channel on 24 December 2015. [15] He uploaded his first video on his TommyInnit channel in September 2018. [16] Simons typically uploads videos consisting of him playing Minecraft .

On 6 August 2019, Simons uploaded his first video relating to SkyBlock, a minigame on Minecraft server Hypixel. [17] On 4 July 2020, Simons joined the Dream SMP, [18] [19] a roleplay-focused Minecraft server run by YouTuber Dream. [20]

On 1 April 2021, Simons created a new YouTube channel under his own name, [21] uploading the first video onto it two months later. [22]

Twitch

Simons began streaming on Twitch in late 2018, where he regularly streams Minecraft and "Just Chatting".

On 20 January 2021, Simons live streamed the finale of the Dream SMP, titled The Dream SMP Finale, which peaked at over 650,000 viewers, making it the third-highest all-time concurrent viewer livestream on Twitch, overtaking Ninja's Fortnite collaboration with Drake. [23] [24] [25] His streaming ventures would then earn him two Guinness World Records, [7] claimed with the help of content creator Jack Welsh for "most viewers of a Minecraft gameplay live stream on Twitch" and "most followed Minecraft channel on Twitch."

On 1 July 2022, Simons performed a live special at the Brighton Dome, titled TommyInnit & Friends. [26] The show included many other popular internet personalities, including DanTDM, Jacksepticeye, JackManifoldTV, Nihachu, and others, [27] as well as a tribute to Technoblade, [27] :1:02:45 whose death was announced early the same day. On 4 August 2022, Simons announced a book that he had been writing with fellow YouTuber and Twitch streamer Wilbur Soot titled TommyInnit Says...The Quote Book. [30] The book was released on 13 October 2022. [31] All of the sales money from the book is being donated to sarcoma advocacy charities in honour of Simons' and Gold's late friend Technoblade, [32] to whom the book was also dedicated. [33]

From 7-24 June 2023, Simons performed a live show across the UK, titled TommyInnit: Annoying At First, with fellow content creators JackManifoldTV and Badlinu. [34] In early May 2023, as a build up to his upcoming tour, Simons held a one-off sketch comedy show at The Old Market in Hove, England. [35] [36] [37] From March 12 to April 15, 2024, Simons will perform at various locations across the United States. [38]

Personal life

Simons has lived in Brighton since January 2022 having previously lived in Nottingham.

On 19 November 2022, Simons released a video on his main YouTube channel, announcing to his audience that he has a girlfriend. Her face and real name were not revealed. She instead was given the nickname "Em". [39] On 6 May 2023, Simons uploaded a video titled "Minecraft, But My Girlfriend Face Reveals...", in which his girlfriend's face and real name, Molly, were revealed. [40]

This is based on British Summer Time (BST), the timezone the United Kingdom (where the live show occurred) was observing when the announcement of Technoblade's death, and Simons' live show, happened. Technoblade's death was announced at 2:29am BST on 1 July 2022, [28] and Simons' live show was performed from 7:30pm BST the same day. [26]
