Thomas George Bridewell (born 8 August 1988 in Etchilhampton, Wiltshire) races for Honda Racing UK in the British Superbike Championship.
Bridewell is a Superbike Champion in the 2023 British Superbike Championship aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R. After several seasons with Oxford Products in the British Superbike Championship, for 2023 he switched to Paul Bird Racing on a factory-supported Ducati. [1]
During the 2018 season, while competing on a Suzuki GSX-R1000R, his contract was terminated abruptly by his team during practice for the Snetterton Circuit round in June. [2] However in July, after missing two rounds, Bridewell was able to step into the vacant Ducati Panigale seat at Moto Rapido Racing, caused by Taylor Mackenzie leaving earlier by mutual agreement. [3]
For the remainder of 2018 Bridewell returned the team's best results in the Superbike class, scoring four podium finishes, narrowly missing out on a Showdown place and achieving the Riders' Cup at the season finale. Bridewell was retained from 2019 to 2022 with the same team under a new sponsor name. [4] [5]
Prior to winning the 2023 British Superbike Championship, his best season-result was finishing second in the 2021 BSB series, behind winner Tarran Mackenzie.
Earlier in his racing career he had also been a runner-up in the Yamaha R6 Cup of 2005. [6]
Tommy is the younger brother of Ollie Bridewell, who was a prominent up-and-coming motorcycle racer when he died in 2007 during the Mallory Park round of the Superbike Championship.
For the 2007 season, Tommy and his older brother Ollie joined forces for the British Superbike Championship in team NB Suzuki. Ollie died after crashing during a practice session at the Mallory Park round in 2007. He was pronounced dead at the scene. [7] Bridewell left the Championship at that round.
Bridewell restarted his racing career in Italy during 2008, moving on to the European Superstock 600 class in 2009, riding the Lorenzini Yamaha. [8] Bridewell started off with a 13th place in the first round at Valencia but would fail to score any more points finishes, and left the team mid-season.
After departing the European scene, Bridewell returned to the British Superbike Championship during the 2009 season, competing in the Privateers' Cup on a Team NB Suzuki, winning the Cup class in 7 of the 26 races. Following this success, he was signed by Quay Garage Honda to compete in the main British Superbike Championship for the 2010 season. [9]
Bridewell had a mixed start to the season, crashing twice in the first round at Brands Hatch Indy circuit, then failing to start the next round at Thruxton. He recovered from this to score a career best fourth-place finish during the fourth round at Cadwell Park. [10] Bridewell finished the season in 11th place on 105 points, his best finish in the Championship.
For 2011 Bridewell remained with the Quay Garage team, rebranded under the Tyco Racing banner. His season started strongly with a podium in the first race at Brands Hatch Indy. However, he crashed heavily in practice at Thruxton, leading to the amputation of his little finger. [11] He took a fourth place in race 2 at Cadwell Park, [12] having injured himself in practice for the second round at Oulton Park, and never showed in the top 10 again. On the Wednesday before the Snetterton round, Bridewell and Tyco Honda parted company. [13] Bridewell was signed up to replace James Westmoreland at Motorpoint Yamaha for the last four rounds of the 2011 championship season. [14]

Bridewell rode with Shaun Muir Racing as a temporary replacement rider for part of 2013, followed by a full season in 2014. For 2015 he joined Tyco BMW.
After winning the 2023 BSB championship, in late December 2023 Bridewell confirmed he would leave PBM racing to join Honda Racing UK, a factory supported team based in Louth, Lincolnshire, England which will run Honda Fireblades along with two other riders, Andrew Irwin and Dean Harrison. [15]
Bridewell participated in the 2018 Suzuka 8 Hours solo motorcycle endurance race riding a Suzuki GSX-R1000R for Japanese team S-Pulse Dream Racing IAI. With two other riders, the team finished fourth. [16]
Bridewell was drafted in to replace injured rider Eugene Laverty on the Go Eleven Ducati in May 2019 for the races at Imola, Italy, on a similar bike to his BSB machine. He finished 12th in Race 1, scoring 4 World Championship points, and 11th in the sprint-distance Superpole Race, just outside of the points. Race 2 was cancelled due to heavy rain. [17] In late May, it was confirmed Bridewell would again replace Laverty, at the Jerez, Spain event in June, [18] when he again finished in the points from both full-length races.
Bridewell was entered as a wildcard in the last round of the 2024 season at Jerez, Spain, on his BSB-based Honda Fireblade, [19] crashing in both full-length races, [20] [21] and finishing the shorter Superpole event in 20th place. [22]

John "Hopper" Hopkins is a former motorcycle road racer based in the United States. During 2017 he raced in the British Superbike Championship aboard a Ducati 1199 Panigale for Moto Rapido Racing, but suffered injuries from a crash at the season-finale race meeting in October, meaning he could not participate during 2018. He has not made a full recovery, which has so far precluded hopes of a comeback, but he has become involved in rider coaching.
Chris Walker is a British motorcycle road racer and former scrambler with the nickname The Stalker. He is a four-time runner-up in the British Superbike Championship, and a former race winner in the Superbike World Championship. For the 2015 season Walker signed for Tommy Hill's Be Wiser Kawasaki Team aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R in the British Superbike Championship, following his 2014 season with Lloyds British GBmoto squad. Team manager Hill left in August, 2015, and the team folded in September, leaving Walker without a ride for the final two race meetings of the season.
Tommy Hill is a former British motorcycle road racer, born 9 February 1985 in Beckenham, Kent. His greatest success was becoming the British Superbike Champion for 2011. He also competed in the World Superbike and World Supersport championships.

The 2010 British Superbike season was the 23rd British Superbike Championship season. The season commenced on 5 April at Brands Hatch and ended on 10 October at Oulton Park after 26 races at twelve meetings held in England and Scotland. Due to the economic climate many rule changes were discussed including one bike per rider and the banning of electronic aids. The season featured a new Evo Class for less-developed bikes and a new 'Showdown' points system to keep the championship close until the end.
The 2011 British Superbike season was the 24th British Superbike Championship season. No major rules were changed from the previous year with the showdown section of the season staying and the continuation of the evolution class below the main superbike class. The field had greater quality than the year before with champion Ryuichi Kiyonari returning to defend his title on the HM Plant Honda alongside the returning former British superbike champion Shane Byrne. This meant that Josh Brookes moved onto the lone Relentless by TAS Suzuki, with Michael Laverty and Tommy Hill moving to a new swan Yamaha team. The major signing was that of former Moto GP rider John Hopkins who joined the Samsung crescent Suzuki squad alongside Jon Kirkham.
The 2012 British Superbike season was the 25th British Superbike Championship season. For the 2012 season, MSVR announced a number of changes to the technical regulations of the spectacle of them British Superbike Championship. The championship will be limited to 32 entries, with 16 teams each entering two bikes. This was designed to be a way of rewarding teams that have had a history of competing in the BSB regularly. Teams who had competed in the 2011 season were given automatic entries, whilst teams who wish to graduate to the BSB class had to buy an entry.
Danny Ray Kent is an English motorcycle racer, best known for winning the 2015 Moto3 World Championship. In doing so he became Great Britain's first Grand Prix solo motorcycle world champion since Barry Sheene in 1977, as well as the first British lightweight class champion since Dave Simmonds in 1969.
Taylor Mackenzie is a former Grand Prix motorcycle racer based in Leicestershire, England, the son of a former motorcycle racer Niall Mackenzie, and older brother to racer Tarran Mackenzie.
The 2013 British Superbike season was the 26th British Superbike Championship season. Shane Byrne stayed in the championship to defend his title from the previous season on the Paul Bird Kawasaki; Ryuichi Kiyonari returned to the championship on board the Samsung Honda to challenge for his fourth British Superbike Championship, with new teammate Alex Lowes looking to win his first championship after showing his pace at the end of the previous season. Josh Brookes stayed on board the Tyco Suzuki and James Ellison returned to try to win the illusive British title riding the Milwaukee Yamaha in what was billed to be the biggest title fight for years.
The 2014 British Superbike Championship season was the 27th British Superbike Championship season. Shane Byrne took the championship, riding a Kawasaki for Paul Bird Motorsport. Byrne's fourth title – after previous triumphs in 2003, 2008 and 2012 – saw him set a new record for the series. He scored 11 victories during the season, and was able to win the championship by 62 points ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari, a three-time series champion. Kiyonari had trailed by 12 points going into the final round of the season at Brands Hatch, but Kiyonari crashed out of contention during a free practice session, and fractured a collarbone in the process. Kiyonari won seven races during the season for the Buildbase BMW team. Third place in the championship was decided in the final race between Milwaukee Yamaha team-mates; a third-place finish for Tommy Bridewell, compared to a fifth place for Josh Brookes, allowed Bridewell to take the position by three points. Brookes took four race victories to his team-mate's single victory at Cadwell Park, which was his first in British Superbikes.
Moto Rapido Racing is a motorbike racing team, currently competing in the British Superbike Championship. For the first half of the 2018 season, the superbike rider was Taylor Mackenzie, who replaced injured American John Hopkins. For the second half of the 2018 season Tommy Bridewell succeeded Mackenzie as sole BSB rider. He was retained for 2019 finishing in third place with 636 points, and is contracted again for 2020.

The championship was won by Tommy Bridewell, winning the closest-ever BSB season, defeating teammate Glenn Irwin by just half a point.
Glenn Irwin is a former professional road racer of motorcycles, and the brother of racer Andrew Irwin. For 2023, he raced for the Paul Bird Motorsport Ducati team in the British Superbike Championship, losing the championship by half-a-point, and in road racing events such as the North West 200 aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R.
