Torfinn Opheim (born 12 April 1961, in Sauda) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party.

He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Rogaland in 2005. He had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 20012005.

On the local level Opheim was a member of Sauda municipality council from 1987 to 2005, and he was mayor for the last six years of that period.

Saudasjøen is a village in Sauda municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located along the northern coast of the Saudafjorden about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) southwest of the town of Sauda. For statistical purposes it is considered a part of the urban area of the town of Sauda. The village is mostly a bedroom community for the nearby town of Sauda. There are some small industries in Saudasjøen as well as the Saudasjøen Chapel. County Road 520 runs through the village along the shore of the fjord.

Kjartan Fløgstad is a Norwegian author. Fløgstad was born in the industrial city of Sauda in Ryfylke, Rogaland. He studied literature and linguistics at the University of Bergen. Subsequently, he worked for a period as an industrial worker and as a sailor before he debuted as a poet with his collection of poems titled Valfart (Pilgrimage) in 1968. He received the Nordic Council's Literature Prize for his 1977 novel Dalen Portland. Other major works include Fyr og flamme, Kron og mynt, Grand Manila and Grense Jakobselv.
