Tragic Idol is the thirteenth studio album by British gothic metal band Paradise Lost. It was released on 23 April 2012 in Europe and 24 April 2012 in North America via Century Media Records. [9]

In support of the album, Paradise Lost went on a UK concert tour with Insomnium. [10]

Formats the album was released through are: Standard CD; Limited Edition 2-CD Box; a fan box, which includes a poster, album slipmat, gold marbled colored 7" & 12" Vinyl, A1 poster 135g, army cap and boxes selected at random will include handwritten lyrics by the band.[ citation needed ] This band has a box set titled Original Album Classics and they have a similar release titled Original Album Collection which has this album along with this band's other albums, In Requiem and Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us . There are EMP Edition (200 copies) - gold vinyl, Amazon Edition (400 copies Germany / 200 copies France) - white vinyl, Nuclear Blast Edition (400 copies) - dark blue vinyl and Band Edition (250 copies, signed) - dark sand marbled vinyl

Guitarist Gregor Mackintosh commented: "The [new CD was] again produced by Jens Bogren and is influenced by classic doom metal and classic metal. I would say it is more melodic than the last record whilst retaining the heaviness. There are lots of guitar solos and melodies." [3]

Also this is the first Paradise Lost studio album featuring Adrian Erlandsson on drums, who joined the band in 2009.

There is a track called "The Last Fallen Saviour" which was written for this album but it was initially made only available as a free flexi disc with Decibel magazine, but has since been included on Tragic Illusion 25 , a rarities compilation released in 2013 to commemorate the band's 25th anniversary.

Meteora is the second studio album by American rock band Linkin Park. It was released on March 25, 2003, through Warner Bros. Records, following Reanimation, a collaboration album which featured remixes of songs included on their 2000 debut studio album Hybrid Theory. obZen is the sixth studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah. It was released in Europe on 7 March 2008, and in North America on 11 March 2008 through Nuclear Blast. Tomas Haake made his return as the studio drummer for the record after the Drumkit from Hell drum software was used on Catch Thirtythree. It is also the first album on which bassist Dick Lovgren performs despite having been a member of the band since 2004; this is due to the bass having been digitally programmed on the previous album, Catch Thirtythree, and the bass having been performed by guitarist Fredrik Thordendal on the previous I EP. As of 2008, the band consists of vocalist Jens Kidman, guitarists Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström, bassist Dick Lövgren and drummer Tomas Haake.

According to Nightwish songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, the album is a concept album that tells the story of an old composer who is reminiscing of his youth on his deathbed. The album was produced alongside the movie of the same name, directed by Stobe Harju, who previously directed Nightwish's "The Islander" music video, and the album and the film share the same themes and general story. It is their second and last album with vocalist Anette Olzon, as well as the last with drummer Jukka Nevalainen.

Dark Roots of Earth is the eleventh studio album by American thrash metal band Testament. It was released on July 27, 2012, in Europe, and four days later in North America by independent German record label Nuclear Blast Records. The album is available in three configurations, CD, CD/DVD and vinyl, with the latter two versions including four bonus tracks. The album was produced by Andy Sneap, who mixed and engineered the band's previous three studio releases, The Gathering (1999), First Strike Still Deadly (2001), and The Formation of Damnation (2008). The album artwork was created by Eliran Kantor. A music video was made for the track "Native Blood". Dark Roots of Earth entered the Billboard 200 at number 12, Testament's highest position ever.

Beyond Magnetic is the second extended play by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released to coincide with the band's 30th anniversary shows, in which they released a new song for all four days of the shows. It was originally released as a digital download exclusively on iTunes on December 13, 2011. All four songs featured on Beyond Magnetic were recorded for the group's Death Magnetic sessions but had not been released. Beyond Magnetic was released on CD on January 30, 2012 internationally and on the following day in the United States. As of September 2016, it has sold over 210,000 copies in the U.S.

Serpent Sermon is the twelfth studio album by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was released in North America on 5 June 2012 through Century Media Records on CD, vinyl and digital download. It reached number 44 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart, selling roughly 800 copies in its first week. Limited edition versions of the album include the bonus track "Coram Satanae", and a limited edition 7" vinyl EP of "Souls for Belial" was also released, featuring a cover of Wovenhand's "Oil On Panel".
