Heinz von Foerster was an Austrian American scientist combining physics and philosophy, and widely attributed as the originator of Second-order cybernetics. He was twice a Guggenheim fellow and also was a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 1980. He is well known for his 1960 Doomsday equation formula published in Science predicting future population growth.

The Park has a variety of amenities including boat launch ramps, picnic areas, and 27 campsites around the perimeter of Shuswap Lake. The lake's name and that of the surrounding Shuswap Country is from the Shuswap people (Secwepemc), the most northern of the Salishan speaking people.

A total solar eclipse will occur on August 12, 2026, in North America and Europe. The total eclipse will pass over the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Atlantic Ocean and northern Spain. The points of greatest duration and greatest eclipse will be just 50 km off the western coast of Iceland by 65°10.3' N and 25°12.3' W, where the totality will last 2m 18s. It will be the first total eclipse visible in Iceland since June 30, 1954 and the only one to occur in the 21st century as the next one will be in 2196.

The Department of History and Philosophy of Science (HPS), of the University of Cambridge is the largest department of History and Philosophy of Science in the United Kingdom. A majority of its submissions received maximum ratings of 4* and 3* in the 2014 REF. Located in the historic buildings of the Old Physical Chemistry Laboratories on Free School Lane, Cambridge, the Department teaches undergraduate courses towards the Cambridge Tripos and graduate courses including a taught Masters and PhD supervision in the field of HPS. The Department shares its premises with the Whipple Museum and Whipple Library which provide important resources for its teaching and research.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries; 60 matches, including the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and the final, will be hosted by the United States while neighboring Canada and Mexico will each host 10 matches. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations.

Milan–Cortina d'Ampezzo was elected as the host city at the 134th IOC Session in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 24 June 2019.
Rugby Parkway is a proposed railway station on the eastern outskirts of Rugby, promoted by Warwickshire County Council. The station was proposed by Warwickshire County Council and was given the green light after funding was secured. It was the subject of a high level feasibility study which recommended the station to be located on the Northampton Loop Line, near the Hillmorton area of Rugby, and close to new housing in Houlton and DIRFT.
