Two Great Guitars is a studio album by Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry,released in August 1964 by Checker Records,a subsidiary of Chess Records. It was the first studio album issued by Berry after his release from prison in October 1963.
Diddley and Berry were friends,and both recorded for Chess. The album consists of two lengthy spontaneous instrumental jams and a few recently recorded instrumentals by the two guitarists;additional instrumental recordings,three by Diddley and one by Berry,are included in the compact disc reissue. The album cover shows a Gibson ES-350T owned by Berry and a guitar created by Diddley.
Ellas Otha Bates McDaniel,known professionally as Bo Diddley,was an American guitarist and singer who played a key role in the transition from the blues to rock and roll. He influenced many artists,including Buddy Holly,Elvis Presley,The Beatles,The Rolling Stones,The Animals,George Thorogood,Syd Barrett,and The Clash.
Charles Edward Anderson Berry was an American singer,guitarist and songwriter who pioneered rock and roll. Nicknamed the "Father of Rock and Roll",he refined and developed rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive with songs such as "Maybellene" (1955),"Roll Over Beethoven" (1956),"Rock and Roll Music" (1957) and "Johnny B. Goode" (1958). Writing lyrics that focused on teen life and consumerism,and developing a music style that included guitar solos and showmanship,Berry was a major influence on subsequent rock music.
Chess Records was an American record company established in 1950 in Chicago,specializing in blues and rhythm and blues. It was the successor to Aristocrat Records,founded in 1947. It expanded into soul music,gospel music,early rock and roll,and jazz and comedy recordings,released on the Chess and its subsidiary labels Checker and Argo/Cadet. The Chess catalogue is owned by Universal Music Group and managed by Geffen Records and Universal Music Enterprises.

Barbed Wire Kisses is a compilation album by Scottish alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain. It was released on 18 April 1988 by Blanco y Negro Records. The album contains singles,B-sides and rare tracks. Throughout the 1980s the band was known for their prodigious output in these formats,often in limited editions which quickly went out of print. This album collects many of those releases spanning the band's career up to that point.
"Roll Over Beethoven" is a 1956 hit song written by Chuck Berry,originally released on Chess Records single,with "Drifting Heart" as the B-side. The lyrics of the song mention rock and roll and the desire for rhythm and blues to be as respected as classical music. The title of the song is an imperative directed at the composer Ludwig van Beethoven to roll over out of the way and make room for the rock and roll music that Berry was promoting. The song has been covered by many other artists,including the Beatles and the Electric Light Orchestra. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 97 on its list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
Bo Diddley is the debut album by American rock and roll musician Bo Diddley. It collects several of his most influential and enduring songs,which were released as singles between 1955 and 1958. Chess Records issued the album in 1958. In 2012,it was ranked number 216 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list alongside his second album,Go Bo Diddley (1959). The ranking of the album pair dropped to number 455 in the 2020 update of the list.
Anthology is a two-disc compilation album by American rock and roll musician Chuck Berry released on July 27,2000,by Chess Records. It duplicates in its entirety the previous anthology The Great Twenty-Eight ranked at No. 21 on the Rolling Stone 500 greatest all time albums list,as well as the entirety of the later Definitive Collection issued in 2006 as part of the Universal series. The album was later reissued and packaged in 2005 as part of the Universal Records Gold series,and simply retitled Gold. It charted at No. 110 in the UK Albums Chart.
The London Chuck Berry Sessions is the sixteenth studio album by Chuck Berry,and consists of studio recordings and live recordings released by Chess Records in October 1972 as LP record,8 track cartridge and audio cassette. Side one of the album consists of studio recordings,engineered by Geoff Calver;side two features three live performances recorded by the Pye Mobile Unit,engineered by Alan Perkins,on February 3,1972,at the Lanchester Arts Festival in Coventry,England. At the end of the live section,the recording includes the sounds of festival management trying in vain to get the audience to leave so that the next performers,Pink Floyd,can take the stage;the crowd begins chanting "We want Chuck!". His backing band were Onnie McIntyre (guitar),Robbie McIntosh (drums),Nic Potter (bass) and Dave Kaffinetti (piano). Both McIntosh and McIntyre would later form The Average White Band.
St. Louis to Liverpool is the seventh and tenth overall studio album by American musician Chuck Berry. Released in 1964 by Chess Records. It peaked at number 124 on the US Billboard album chart,the first of Berry's studio albums to appear on the chart. Music critic Dave Marsh called St. Louis to Liverpool "one of the greatest rock &roll records ever made".

Recorded live in concert in July 1963 at the Beach Club in Myrtle Beach,South Carolina,it is one of rock music's earliest live remote recordings. The album was a success in the UK Album Charts reaching #13 on July 3 and stayed on the charts for 6 weeks.

The song reached #20 on Billboard magazine's Hot R&B Sides chart,and #75 on the Hot 100. The song has since been recorded by many artists.
The Chess Box is a compact disc box set compilation by Chuck Berry. It is one in a series of box sets issued by MCA/Chess in the late 1980s. The Chuck Berry set is the most prominent of these,having won a Grammy Award for Best Historical Album in 1989. Berry's Chess Box was reissued on vinyl in 1990.
2120 South Michigan Ave. is the fifteenth studio album by George Thorogood and the Destroyers. It was released on June 14,2011,on the Capitol Records label. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. The title refers to the address of the offices and recording studios of Chess Records in Chicago. The album contains ten covers of songs recorded on Chess Records by artists such as Chuck Berry,Bo Diddley,Willie Dixon,and Muddy Waters;plus a cover of The Rolling Stones' instrumental "2120 South Michigan Avenue" and two original songs about Chess Records artists. Capitol Records approached Thorogood with the idea for the album and selected most of the songs. Buddy Guy and Charlie Musselwhite perform on the album,although their work was added after primary recording was complete.
