The U.S.Department of the Treasury Office of Inspector General (USDT-OIG or TreasuryOIG) is one of the Inspector General offices created by the Inspector General Act Amendments of 1988. [1] The Inspector General for the Department of the Treasury is charged with investigating and auditing department programs to combat waste, fraud, and abuse. [2]
The Inspector General for the Department of the Treasury is charged with conducting independent audits, investigations and reviews to help the Treasury Department accomplish its mission; improve its programs and operations; promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness; and prevent and detect fraud and abuse.
