Buenos Aires, officially the Buenos Aires Province, is the largest and most populous Argentine province. It takes its name from the city of Buenos Aires, the capital of the country, which used to be part of the province and the province's capital until it was federalized in 1880. Since then, in spite of bearing the same name, the province does not include Buenos Aires city, though it does include all other parts of the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Club Olimpo, usually referred to as Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, is an Argentine sports club based in the city of Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province. The club was founded October 15th, 1910. Its primary activity is soccer. The club is recognized in Argentina's highest soccer league. In basketball the club participated in the Torneo Nacional de Ascenso until the 2016/2017 season, stopping due to economic problems. Olimpo is considered one of the most recognized and important institutions in southern Argentina due to the history, championships won, infrastructure, large number of sports, representation of the city of Bahía Blanca, and for its fan base.
The Unidad Ejecutora del Plan Ferroviario Provincial (UEPFP) (in English: "Executive Unit of the Provincial Railway Plan"), mostly known under its trade name Ferrobaires, was a public railway company which operated extensive long-distance passenger trains throughout the Buenos Aires Province in Argentina. The company was primarily owned and funded by the Buenos Aires provincial government led by Eduardo Duhalde. The name "Ferrobaires" is a combination of the Spanish words for "Rail Buenos Aires."

Aeroposta Argentina S.A. was an early pioneering airline in Argentina established in the late 1920s, and a subsidiary of the French airmail carrier Aéropostale. It was created on September 5, 1927, as a subsidiary of the Aéropostale. In 1929, Aéropostale started expanding its airmail service within South America, and provided the first domestic air services on routes to Asuncion, Paraguay, Santiago de Chile, plus Bahía Blanca, Comodoro Rivadavia and Rio Gallegos in southern Argentina.

The original project was the rail line to run through the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and San Luis, tracks were only extended to Toay in La Pampa and Huinca Renancó in Córdoba. The BB&NWR was also the first railway line to reach La Pampa.

Bahía Blanca Sud is a railway station of the Argentine rail network, part of the General Roca Railway. Originally built and operated by the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway, it is located in the city of Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province. In November 2014 the station was declared National Historical Monument by the Argentine government.

Facundo Astudillo Castro was an Argentine citizen who went missing on 30 April 2020 after being stopped by the police during the COVID-19 pandemic strict lockdowns in Argentina. He was hitchhiking from Pedro Luro to Bahía Blanca, when in the town entrance of Mayor Buratovich was stopped in a police checkpoint of circulation permits. His last known image, taken the day of disappearance, depicts him being held by the police for violating the lockdown, with his hands against the police vehicle number RO 23360. It was cataloged by the victim family as a Forced disappearance in hands of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police. This theory was also followed by human rights activist Estela de Carlotto. Nora Cortiñas, another known activist in Argentina, demanded the resignation of Sergio Berni, the Buenos Aires Province Minister of Security. The minister considered this an irresponsible request.

Teresa Manera de Bianco is an Argentine paleontologist and geologist. She was a professor in the geology department of the Universidad Nacional del Sur. She conducts research on vertebrate paleontology and topics related to vertebrate footprints and remains from the Quaternary period. In 1986, she discovered a stretch of land near Pehuen Co containing 12,000-year-old fossilized footprints of at least 22 distinct species, including those of the extinct sloth Megatherium and Glyptodonts.
