Serbia and Montenegro competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004. Previously known as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, this was the nation's third and last joint appearance at the Summer Olympics before Serbia and Montenegro became separated independent states in 2006. The Olympic Committee of Serbia and Montenegro sent a total of 85 athletes to the Games, 78 men and 7 women, to compete in 14 sports. Men's basketball, football, volleyball, and water polo were the only team-based sports in which Serbia and Montenegro had its representation at these Games. There was only a single competitor in road cycling, judo, tennis, and wrestling.
The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad".

Turkey competed at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China from 12 August to 23 August 2011. A total of 81 athletes were a part of the Turkish team competing in eight sports branches.
The Flagler Saints are the athletic teams that represent Flagler College, located in St. Augustine, Florida, in intercollegiate sports at the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Peach Belt Conference since the 2009–10 academic year.

The Philippines has participated at the Universiade debuting at the 1967 Summer Universiade. From 1967 until 2007, athletes representing the country were sent by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines with sanction from Philippine Olympic Committee. Since 2011 it is the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), that has been sending competitors representing the country at the Universiade.
Ukraine participated at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, Taiwan. 160 Ukrainian athletes competed in archery, athletics, basketball, diving, fencing, football, gymnastics, judo, swimming, taekwondo, volleyball, weightlifting, and wushu. Ukraine was not represented in badminton, baseball, billiards, golf, roller sports, table tennis, tennis, and water polo. The team won 36 medals, 12 of which were gold, and finished 6th.

Ukraine was not represented in rugby sevens, sailing, shooting, table tennis and water polo. The team won 20 medals, 6 of which were gold, and for the first time finished outside Top-10.

They competed in archery, athletics, basketball, diving, fencing, football, gymnastics, judo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball. The only sport Ukraine did not participate in was water polo. Ukraine won 31 medals, including 7 gold medals, and ranked 6th.

The country was represented in athletics, fencing (20), swimming (16), football (15), artistic gymnastics (10), diving (6), tennis (4), and rhythmic gymnastics (2). Ukraine did not compete in basketball, volleyball, and water polo. Ukraine was the most successful team in fencing, winning the most medals and a medal in each men's competition. Men's football team finished 4th.
