University School of Chemical Technology (USCT) is one of the constituent school of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

History

The university was established by government of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998. It is located at Dwarka, New Delhi. The old campus of the university was situated in Kashmere Gate, New Delhi. USCT was established in 1998, the same year as other constituent schools. It was an initiative by the university to start the University School of Chemical Technology, making it the only one of its kind in this region after IIT Delhi.

The dual degree programs are offered under a 4+2 scheme, wherein a student can exit at the end of four years with a B.Tech. degree.

Syllabus/Course

The B.Tech/M.Tech. (Integrated) programme is meant to impart knowledge of various core chemical engineering subjects, inter- disciplinary courses in biotechnology, Management Studies through electives, and Industrial exposure through practical training in Laboratories and Industrial Units.

Admission

Admission for the four year B.Tech. course is done on the basis of merit; strictly based on JEE(Mains) for the B.Tech. Program and for M.Tech. program either the GATE score or entrance exam based merit is required.

Facilities

Hostel facility is available for both girls and boys, single room being allotted to an individual. University canteen is open during the college hours. The university has the major sports facilities including Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Tug of war, Cricket, Athletics. Health care centre remains open during college hours and doctors and specialists are available.

Student Activities

The students of USCT actively participate in various competitions held by the university, IITs and other chemical organisations. The REACT Society of USCT is an active organization that has been formed to advance the objectives of the student community of the University School of Chemical Technology to stimulate interaction and interest between faculty and students of all academic areas in the USCT. It aims at providing academic outreach as well as ties to the local industries and chemical engineering professionals. Also to provide students with opportunities that are not available within the classroom and are related to the field of chemical and biochemical engineering. The student chapter of IIChE (Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers) has been opened since 2016. Students of USCT have participated in many notable national as well as international competitions such as Schemcon and those organised by AIChE(American Institute of Chemical Engineers).

It also has an alumni network of around 7000 students working round the globe in major engineering and management organizations. The institute is a Jain Minority Institute.

K. K. Aggarwal is an engineer and professor who has worked in the fields of computer engineering and information technology. He is the current President of the South Asian University since December 2023. He was the founder vice chancellor of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and founder Chancellor of K R Mangalam University in Gurgaon. He served as the president of the Computer Society of India from 2007 to 2009 and held the position of the vice president of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation from 2008 to 2009 and then as the president for a year afterwards. He has also been the Chairman of the National Board of Accreditation, India and the Chairman of the Board of Governors for Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur. He also served as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University during 1995 – 1998. MBS School of Planning and Architecture is the largest architecture institute of New Delhi; it has an intake of 120 students per year for undergraduate programme in architecture. The college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indrapratha University and is duly approved by the Council of Architecture and the All India Council for Technical Education.

University School of Law & Legal Studies is one of the constituent schools of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Established in 2001, it is an institution dedicated to law and was the first state government law school in Delhi. It is constantly rated in the top 15 government law schools in India offering a 5-year course. It is also rated in the top five law schools in Delhi NCR. The acceptance rate of USLLS is incredibly low, given the fewer seats and large number of applicants. USLLS was also ranked 12 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Admission to DITM in engineering degree programmes is through the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. DITM is recognised as private unaided institution by AICTE. The institute runs different courses in engineering, business studies and computer education.

Bhagwan Mahaveer College of Engineering and Management (BMCEM) now merge in Mahavir Swami Institute of Technology MVSIT is a private Jain minority college affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and located in Jagdishpur, Haryana. MVSIT is recognised as unaided private institution by AICTE. Admission to MVSIT is through the Common Entrance Test (CET) /JEEMAINS conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University/NTA. The institute offers B.Tech full-time degree programmes.

Punjabi University Guru Kashi Campus (PUGKC) is a regional centre of Punjabi University, located at Talwandi Sabo, India. Its main constituents are Yadavindra College of Engineering, University School of Business Studies and Punjabi University Guru Kashi College.
