Overview

French culture has long had a strong influence in Uruguay, with its secondary education and University tailored to the French model. This is a reason why many Uruguayans have found France attractive as a country to pursue higher studies; many of them decided to stay.[ citation needed ]

During the civic-military dictatorship of Uruguay (1973-1985), some expatriates spent their exile years in France.[ citation needed ] There are as well a number of French-born people of Uruguayan descent.

Expatriate Uruguayans have their own institutions in France, [11] such as the Consultative Council in Paris. [12]

British migration to France has resulted in France being home to one of the largest British-born populations outside the United Kingdom. Migration from the UK to France has increased rapidly from the 1990s onwards. Estimates of the number of British citizens living in France vary from 170,000 to 250,000. Besides Paris, many British expatriates tend to be concentrated in the regions of southern France, Brittany, and recently the island of Corsica. Dordogne has a large British immigrant community. The University of Koudougou is one of three public universities in Burkina Faso. It is located in the city of Koudougou. As of 2015/2016 it had the second highest enrollment of students nationally (16.2%) behind the University of Ouagadougou which had 32.8% of the national total enrollment. The University Ouaga 2, the University of Bobo-Dioulasso and the "Institut des Sciences (IDS)" had 13.2%, 11.3%, and 1.9% of total university enrollment, respectively. The remaining 24.5% of enrollment are in private universities. The university was founded in 2005 and in 2015/2016 had 15,346 students.;

The 2022 French legislative election occurred on 4 and 18 June 2022 (America and Caribbean Zone) and 5 and 19 June 2022 (Rest of the world). In the single member constituencies for French residents overseas, 11 deputies were elected, representing French people living outside France. It is the third time French citizens living abroad will be represented in the National Assembly after the previous elections in 2012 and 2017.
