They played in the Süper Lig, top division of Turkish football, between 1994 and 1998, playing once more in 1999–2000 season. After relegation from the first division, Vanspor turned to an economic crisis and were relegated from the 2nd and 3rd divisions between 2000 and 2002. After relegation from the 3rd division in 2003, the club was renamed as İl Özel İdaresi Vanspor and played in Van Super Amateur. They changed name as Van Tuşba Belediyespor in 2013 and also changed colour as black-yellow. They finally withdrew from Van First Amateur League in 2014–15 season and merged with Van Büyükşehir Belediyespor. Due to mismanagement and bad results, almost all supporters of them moved to Van Büyükşehir Belediyespor.
Their nickname was "Canavarlar" which translates literally as "Monsters" in Turkish. Their first colours were black and yellow. In 1983 they converted to black and red. Finally, they converted to a white and light blue kit in 1997.

The Süper Lig, officially known as Trendyol Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a Turkish professional league for association football clubs. It is the top-flight of the Turkish football league system and is run by the Turkish Football Federation. In the 2023–2024 season, twenty clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promoted from, and another four relegated to the 1. Lig. The season runs from August to May, with each club playing 38 matches. Matches are played Friday through Monday.
İstanbulspor Kulübü is a Turkish football and sports club founded by Istanbul High School students in 1926. In 2004–05, they were relegated from the Turkish Süper Lig to the TFF First League. For many decades, it was the fourth most famous and well-developed professional football club in Istanbul, coming after Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe. After being bought by the Uzan family in 1990, it has been repossessed by the government and resold to third parties.

Erzurumspor was a sports club located in Erzurum, Turkey. The football club played in the Turkish Regional Amateur League. The club also played in Turkish First League between 1998 and 2001. It fell into money shortage since 2000 and gradually fell into Second League Category A in 2001 and Second league Category B in 2003. It was finally forced to relegate TFF Third League after not playing an away match at Karsspor on January 31, 2010. Erzurumspor were also relegated from Third League and was dissolved in 2015 and replaced with Erzurum Büyükşehir Belediyespor, which was founded in 1967. Erzurum Büyükşehir Belediyespor was the champion of the 1st Group of Regional Amateur League in 2010–11 season and promoted to the 3rd League.

Arif Peçenek was a Turkish football player and manager. Born in Ankara, he began his club football career with the capital club Ankara Güneşspor in 1976. Prosperous goalkeeper continued to play respectively in Ankara Şekerspor, MKE Ankaragücü, İstanbulspor and Adana Demirspor until his retirement in 1995. He successfully inserts 23 national team caps. Peçenek who is associated with MKE Ankaragücü and perceived as one of the greatest players in the club's history inserts more than 200 caps for this club. With 192 first division inserts Peçenek is in the list of players with most premier league inserts for MKE Ankaragücü in 13th place. After ending his football career, he moved into coaching specialist. He assisted in Vanspor, Adanaspor and again Vanspor the head coach Ali Osman Renklibay as an assistant coach. In 1999/2000 season Peçenek took over Türk Telekomspor as his first head coaching experience. He supervised subsequently Körfez Belediyespor, Ankara Şekerspor and Kızılcahamam Belediyespor. From 2005 to 2010, he held the Youth Academy Development Coordinator with the MKE Ankaragücü. In November 2012, he was introduced for the TKI Tavşanlı Linyitspor. He died on 29 January 2013 due to a heart attack in Ankara.
