The Virginia Armada are a professional American football team based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The team is a member of the Major League Football (MLFB), a public traded professional football league, and plays its home games at Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

The Force are part of the league "Core Four" teams. [1] They are the first pro football team in Virginia since the United Football League Virginia Destroyers.

History

On March 18, 2022, Major League Football launched a new website and revealed that there will be only four teams for the first season. [2] On March 22 the league reveled their second coach in Terry Shea. [3] The league would later reveal he will coach the Virginia Armada. [4]

The Armada started their training camp on July 21. [5] One week later, the team was evicted from its hotel amid unpaid bills and reports of the league shutting down. [6]

Terrence William Shea is an American football coach and former player who was the head coach of the Aviators of The Spring League. Shea also performs quarterback consulting work for future NFL draft prospects. He worked with Robert Griffin III, Blaine Gabbert, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford, and Josh Freeman, whom Shea later brought to the Chargers in 2015). Shea also trained and developed Collin Klein and Tommy Rees.

The Virginia Destroyers were a professional American football team based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They began play in the United Football League (UFL) in the 2011 season. They played their home games at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

The 2011 UFL season was the third season of the United Football League (UFL). The season, which was affected by franchise shifts and schedule delays due in part to the UFL's lingering financial issues, began on September 15, 2011 and would have run through October 28, with a championship game set for the following weekend. The regular season was abandoned after the games of October 15, and the Championship Game moved up to October 21, when the Virginia Destroyers claimed their first UFL title by defeating the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Locomotives 17-3 at Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
