WSUE is heard in both the Eastern Upper Peninsula and in the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario market, due to its proximity to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. As a result, WSUE covers and advertises bands, concerts, and events in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario frequently. The station can be heard throughout much of the Central Algoma region of Ontario, and can be heard into the Lower Peninsula of Michigan as far south as Cheboygan, Michigan and surrounding areas. Though WSUE has had no direct competition in the Sault Ste. Marie radio market since 2010, Cheboygan mainstream rock station WGFM does get reception in much of WSUE's coverage area, as do some Northern Michigan classic rock stations.
WSUE is the current radio home for regular season & playoff games of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, who are based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Nationally syndicated programming on WSUE includes rock radio programs Eddie Trunk Rocks , In the Studio with Redbeard , and Time Warp with Bill St. James, as well as The Chop Shop & The Core, which are both syndicated from Detroit rock station WRIF. Locally produced programming includes Scott Cook in the Morning on weekday mornings and The Hair Scare (also hosted by Cook) on Saturday nights.
Current on-air talent includes morning host Scott Cook, DJs Allison "Alli J" Miller and Mark SanAngelo, chief meteorologist Karl Bohnak, and Soo Greyhounds announcers Gerry Liscumb, Jr and Lorne "Spanky" Robinson. Pre-recorded bumpers from Nikki "At Night" Peterson (an on-air personality at WUPK & WIMK) and former DJ/producer John Delise are used during the station's nighttime timeslots, while WSOO DJ John Bell provides news reports during Scott Cook in The Morning. Former Sault Ste. Marie City Commissioner Ray Bauer is among WSUE's former DJs, while former Sovereign Communications vice president Tom Ewing was the station's long time news anchor.

With a population of 13,337 at the 2020 census, it is the second-most populated city in the Upper Peninsula, behind Marquette. It is the primary city of the Sault Ste. WPBN-TV is a television station licensed to Traverse City, Michigan, United States, serving as the NBC affiliate for the northern Lower and eastern Upper peninsulas of Michigan. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which provides certain services to ABC affiliate WGTU and Sault Ste. Marie–licensed full-time satellite WGTQ under a local marketing agreement (LMA) with Cunningham Broadcasting. However, Sinclair effectively owns WGTU/WGTQ as the majority of Cunningham's stock is owned by the family of deceased group founder Julian Smith. Both stations share studios on M-72 just west of Traverse City, while WPBN-TV's transmitter is located east of Kalkaska, Michigan. The station also operates a low-power digital fill-in translator on UHF channel 22 from a transmitter south of Harrietta in the Manistee National Forest.

WGFN is a radio station in Northern Michigan that airs a classic rock format under the branding of "The Bear", and is currently owned by Black Diamond Broadcast Holdings, LLC. WGFN is based out of Glen Arbor, Michigan, airing at 98.1 FM to the Traverse City market. WGFN has been the flagship station of the Bear network of classic rock stations that have aired in Northern Michigan since the early 2000s, which peaked with 4 regional stations from 2002-2009 and 2010-2012. The only other surviving Bear station in the region is 95.3 WWSS, which airs the same programming and playlist as WGFN, but features differing station identifications and commercial content for its market. The Bear aired the popular syndicated morning radio program The Bob & Tom Show until September 2017, and currently airs Detroit Tigers baseball games and Detroit Lions football games. The current lineup includes Smitty in morning drive, "California Girl" Nicole Pence in mid-days, and Jay Roberts on afternoon drive.

WGFM boasts a 43,000-watt signal which easily covers most of northern Lower Michigan from Grayling northward and extends into the eastern Upper Peninsula. WGFE's signal serves primarily the immediate Traverse City area and carries across the waters of Lake Michigan, and can frequently be heard in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and the eastern shoreline of Door County, Wisconsin. The station is simulcast on WGFE 95.5 FM in Glen Arbor, Michigan, and is also heard on translator W279CC in Alpena.

According to past editions of the Broadcasting Yearbook, the station went on the air as WKNW in August 1990, after briefly holding the callsigns WBPW and WDHP before launch. The station was popularly known as KNOW AM in the 1990s, which alluded to its news/talk format, and also served as an antonym to sister station WYSS' Yes FM branding.
