The Walnut Creek Crawdads are the collegiate summer baseball team based in Concord, California, and play their home games at Monte Vista High School Baseball Field in Danville, California. They are currently members of the California Collegiate League.

History

The Crawdads were founded by local businessman Marshall Murray and began play in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting amateur college baseball players by allowing them to gain experience and play games throughout their summer breaks using professional rules and equipment. They have been members of the California Collegiate League since their inception. [2] [3]

2012–2013: Far West League

In 2013, the Crawdads held a 26–24 record and were managed by Paul Hewitt. [4]

2014–2017: California Collegiate League

In 2014, the Crawdads joined the California Collegiate League and played in the North Division. [5] Future Major League Baseball infielder Miles Mastrobuoni played for the Crawdads. [6] [7]

2018: Bay Area Collegiate League

In 2018, the Crawdads played in the Bay Area Collegiate League. [8] The Crawdads did not play in 2019 or 2020 due to reorganization and COVID-19. [9]

2020–present: California Collegiate League (second stint)

In 2020, the Crawdads returned to the California Collegiate League. [10] Since rejoining the league, the Crawdads have been managed by Brant Cummings through the 2024 season.

The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) is a 13-team collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league founded in 1993 and sanctioned by the NCAA and Major League Baseball. Each NECBL team plays an eight-week, 44-game schedule during June and July, with a playoff in early August. Like the Cape Cod Baseball League and other amateur leagues, the NECBL is a showcase for top college-level players, giving professional baseball scouts a chance to see prospective pros playing against each other. Along with the Cape Cod Baseball League, Northwoods League, and Coastal Plain League, it is considered one of the top summer leagues in the country and is a part of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball. In 2019, the Collegiate Summer Baseball Register ranked the NECBL as the 2nd best collegiate summer baseball league, behind only the Cape Cod League.

The Green Bay Rockers are a baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The team joined the league as the Bullfrogs as an expansion franchise for the 2007 season along with the Battle Creek Bombers. Before the 2019 season, the Bullfrogs were renamed the Booyah, moved from their original stadium of Joannes Stadium to Capital Credit Union Park, and switched divisions from the Northwoods League South Division to the Great Lakes West Division.

The Humboldt Crabs are a collegiate summer baseball team located in Arcata, California. Playing in every season since they were founded in 1945 by Lou Bonomini, later joined by Ned Barsuglia, the Crabs are the oldest continually-operated summer collegiate baseball team in American baseball. Through the 2024 season the Crabs have a total record of 2693 wins, 830 losses, and one tie. The Crabs did not play the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Sunbelt Baseball League (SBL) is a non-profit collegiate summer baseball league with teams located in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia and Oxford, Alabama. The SBL is a member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball, which is partially funded by Major League Baseball. Games are played with wooden bats. The season starts in early June and runs through the end of July/early August, with playoffs determining the league champion.

The O'Fallon Hoots are a collegiate summer league baseball team in the United States Prospect League. The team played the 2018 and 2019 seasons as the Hannibal Hoots, but only one of those seasons saw them use Hannibal, Missouri as their home; flooding of their stadium led the Hoots to play their 2019 home schedule in nearby Quincy, Illinois at the home stadium of the Quincy Gems. Following the 2019 season, the Hoots moved to Carshield Field in O’Fallon, Missouri after the departure of the River City Rascals. The Hoots formed in late 2017 and were an expansion franchise for the 2018 season. The Hoots and other collegiate summer leagues and teams exist to give top college players professional-like experience without affecting NCAA eligibility.

The CarShield Collegiate League is a collegiate summer baseball league based at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Missouri. The league was formed in 2020 after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the Prospect League season, which had the location host O'Fallon Hoots as a member. The CarShield Collegiate League began play as a six–team league on July 1, 2020, with all games being played at CarShield Field. The CarShield Collegiate League continued play in the 2021 season as a four–team league.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Healdsburg Prune Packers</span> Collegiate summer baseball team

The Healdsburg Prune Packers are the collegiate level summer baseball team which has been playing at Recreation Park since 1921. Operating under various organizational structures over the years, the Packers became a part of the California Collegiate League in 2014. As of 2024, they became a charter team of the newly-formed Pacific Empire League.
