Westerheim Township is a township in Lyon County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 286 at the 2000 census.
Westerheim Township was organized in 1876, and derives its name from a Norwegian-language word meaning "western home". [3]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.3 square miles (94.1 km2), of which 36.3 square miles (94.1 km2) is land and 0.03% is water.
As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 286 people, 97 households, and 78 families residing in the township. The population density was 7.9 people per square mile (3.0/km2). There were 100 housing units at an average density of 2.8/sq mi (1.1/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 100.00% White.
There were 97 households, out of which 43.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.2% were married couples living together, 3.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.6% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.35.
