The Western Bridge and Construction Company, located in Omaha, Nebraska, was one of the foremost bridge engineering and manufacturing companies in the Midwestern United States. Several of their bridges are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Their headquarters were located in the Bee Building in Downtown Omaha. [1]

There are two Western bridges in Garden County, Nebraska, including the Lisco State Aid Bridge near Lisco, Nebraska and Lewellen State Aid Bridge in Lewellen, Nebraska. [2] [3] The Lewellen and Lisco bridges are the only remaining intact examples of state aid pony trusses in Nebraska, and the Lisco Bridge is significant as one of the last remaining structures from the state aid bridge program. The King Iron Bridge & Manufacturing Company was a late-19th-century bridge building company located in Cleveland, Ohio. Many of the bridges built by the company were used during America's expansion west in the late 19th century and early 20th century, and some of these bridges are still standing today.
The Lisco State Aid Bridge is located on a county road over the North Platte River south of Lisco, Nebraska. Completed in 1928, the bridge today "is distinguished as an important crossing of the Platte River and one of the last two intact multiple-span state aid truss bridges" in Nebraska.

Monarch Engineering Co. was an American firm of Denver, Colorado, active in engineering and construction services. John A. Crook and his brother, Guy A. Crook of Falls City, were founders of the Monarch Engineering company which had its origin and main offices at Falls City, with offices in Kansas City, and Denver. Under the management of these men the Monarch Engineering company had risen to become an important and prosperous concern and a vast amount of bridge construction, city paving, irrigation-dam building, and public building work has been done under their supervision. Within ten years after the firm had been in operation, or since 1908, its activities constantly increased and in 1917 they purchased the Denver Steel and Iron Works in order to facilitate the material supply part of the construction work in which they were engaged.
The Neligh Mill Bridge is a truss bridge which brings Elm St. over the Elkhorn River in Neligh in Antelope County, Nebraska. It was built in 1910 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It has also been known as the Elm Street Bridge and as Elkhorn River Bridge.
The Bridge designated NEHBS No. AP00-252 near Royal, Nebraska built in 1911 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It brought a township road over an unnamed stream, about 6.8 miles (10.9 km) northeast of Royal. The bridge was fabricated by the Lackawanna Steel Co. and built by the Western Bridge & Construction Co. of Omaha, Nebraska at cost of $1,149. It was a Kingpost pony truss bridge with span length of 30 feet (9.1 m), total length of 32 feet (9.8 m), and roadway width of 16 feet (4.9 m).
Verdigris Creek Bridge in Antelope County, Nebraska near Royal, Nebraska was built in about 1918. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It is also denoted NEHBS No. AP00-253.
