The 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, also known as the MTN Africa Cup of Nations due to the competition's sponsorship by MTN, was the 26th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial football tournament for nations affiliated to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament was staged at four venues around Ghana between 20 January and 10 February 2008.

Two years after her breakthrough with her duet "Akhdny maak" with famous singer Fadl Shaker the album proved to be a bigger success than her first album released in 2005 Twassa Feyi isn't much different from her usual; romantic songs that bring the world of imagination and fantasy to the listener, however the album lyrics touches on a more "Artistically Mature" Yara especially since this would be the first album she sings in the Khaliji dialect. The album contains 10 songs in the different Arabic dialects; Egyptian, Lebanese and Khaliji. The title track "Enta Menni" which is an Egyptian song was one of the most successful songs of the year.

Contestants from 89 countries and territories participated in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of 86 contestants in 2006.

As part of the events, the contestants also travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland between 23 and 27 October. Alexandria Mills of the United States crowned her successor Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela at the end of the event, she is the sixth Venezuelan women to win Miss World. Although over 120 delegates were expected to compete, problems regarding the timely acquisition of visas prevented several candidates from participating, thus reducing the final number to 113. Miss World 2011 was viewed by over 1 billion people worldwide.
