Yoris Grandjean (born 20 March 1989) is a Belgian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. [1] He won two gold medals at the 2006 FINA Youth World Swimming Championships, and later represented Belgium at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Since 2009, he still currently holds a Belgian record (22.13) in the 50 m freestyle from the national championships in Antwerp. [2] [3] Grandjean also trains for Liège Swimming Club (French : Club Natation Liège) under his head coach Andre Henvaux. [4]

Grandjean made his international debut at the 2006 FINA Youth World Swimming Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he achieved a total of three medals, and established multiple meet records: two golds each in the 50 m freestyle (22.74) and 100 m freestyle (50.32), and a silver in the 200 m freestyle (1:52.20). Entering his senior season, Grandjean competed in a sprint freestyle double at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He achieved a FINA A-standard entry time of 49.09 (100 m freestyle) after finishing sixth from the European Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands. [7] [8] In the 100 m freestyle, Grandjean placed nineteenth on the morning prelims. Swimming in heat seven, he blasted a new Belgian record of 48.82 in a Speedo techsuit, but narrowly missed the semifinal cut by only 0.27 of a second. [9] [10] Two days later, in the 50 m freestyle, Grandjean put up an astonishing swim with a fourth-place time and a Belgian record of 22.45 in heat nine, edging out Finland's Matti Rajakylä by a small fraction of a second. Grandjean failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed twenty-eighth overall out of 97 swimmers in the prelims. [11] [12]

Grandjean was also selected as a reserve for the Belgian squad at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but did not compete in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. His teammates Louis Croenen, Dieter Dekoninck, Pieter Timmers, and Glenn Surgeloose failed to reach the top 8 final, finishing only in twelfth place with a time of 7:14.44. [13]

At the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France, Grandjean solidified his Belgian team (Timmers, Emmanuel Vanluchene, and Jasper Aerents) to take the bronze in the 4×50 m freestyle relay, posting their time of 1:25.60. [14]

Glenn Surgeloose is a Belgian swimmer, who specializes in sprint freestyle events. He collected a bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle at the 2007 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Surgeloose is a member of Brabo Antwerp, and is coached and trained by Ronald Gaastra.

Pieter Timmers is a Belgian retired competitive swimmer who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He won the silver medal in the 100 meter freestyle at the 2016 Olympics. Timmers currently holds nine Belgian records, and seven national titles in long and short course freestyle. Timmers is a resident athlete for Brabo Antwerp, and trains under his personal coach Ronald Gaastra. He stands 2.00 m, and weighs 89 kg (196 lb). He ended his career in Budapest in the second season of the International Swimming League in 2020.

Rugilė Mileišytė, also known as Rugilė Binevičienė, is a Lithuanian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She is a multiple-time Lithuanian champion and a five-time national record holder for both the freestyle and medley relay events. Mileišytė is a member of the swimming team for the Washington State Cougars, and a graduate of social sciences at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.

Apostolos Tsagkarakis is a Greek former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Regarding as one of Greece's most popular swimmers in a global standard, Tsagkarakis is a 13-time swimming champion, 12-time All-American honoree, and a 20-time national record holder in both freestyle and butterfly. He is also one of two Greek swimmers, alongside Spyridon Bitsakis, who trained for the Alabama Crimson Tide, under head coach Don Gambril, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

She is a six-time medalist in individual events at the European Junior Swimming Championships and medalist at the European Youth Olympic Festival.

Florine Gaspard is a Belgian competitive swimmer specializing in sprint breaststroke events. She is the Belgian record holder in the long course and short course 50-metre breaststroke. She placed sixth in the final of the 50-metre breaststroke at the 2021 European Short Course Championships. At the 2022 European Aquatics Championships, she placed eighth in the final of the 50-metre breaststroke. At the World Short Course Championships, she placed eleventh in the semifinals of the 50-metre breaststroke in 2021 and 2022.
