Yoro is a village and commune and seat of the Cercle of Koro in the Mopti Region of Mali. In 1998 the commune had a population of 10,535. [1] The village and Gangafani were attacked by suspected Fulani gunmen, who killed 41 people according to a MINUSMA count. [2] [3]
A Commune is the third level administrative unit in Mali. Mali is divided into eight regions and one capital district (Bamako). These subdivisions bear the name of their principal city. The regions are divided into 49 Cercles. The Cercles and the district are divided into 703 Communes, with 36 Urban Communes and 667 Rural Communes, while some larger Cercles still contain Arrondissements above the Commune level, these are organisational areas with no independent power or office. Rural Communes are subdivided in Villages, while Urban Communes are subdivided into Quartier. Communes usually bear the name of their principal town. The capital, Bamako, consists of six Urban Communes. There were initially 701 communes until the Law No. 01-043 of 7 June 2001 created two new Rural Communes in the desert region in the north east of the country: Alata, Ménaka Cercle in the Gao Region and Intadjedite, Tin-Essako Cercle in the Kidal Region.
Koro Cercle is an administrative subdivision of the Mopti Region of Mali. The administrative center is the town of Koro.
Mopti is the fifth administrative region of Mali, covering 79,017 km2. Its capital is the city of Mopti. During the 2012 Northern Mali conflict, the frontier between Southern Mali which is controlled by the central government and the rebel-held North ran through Mopti Region.

Kofan is a rural commune in the Cercle of Sikasso in the Sikasso Region of southern Mali. The commune covers an area of 283 square kilometers and includes a small town and 7 villages. In the 2009 census it had a population of 10,236. The administrative center of the commune, the chef-lieu, is the small town of Kafana. The town is 68 km northwest of Sikasso.
Dogofry is a village and a rural commune in the Cercle of Niona in the Ségou Region of southern-central Mali. The commune covers an area of approximately 3,820 square kilometers and is bordered to the north by the Republic of Mauritania, to the east by the commune of Nampalari, to the southeast by the commune of Diabaly, to the southwest by the commune of Sokolo and to the west by the commune of Guiré in the Cercle of Nara. It includes 19 villages, and had a population of 34,057 in the 2009 census. The south of the commune includes a region irrigated as part of the Office du Niger scheme. The village of Dogofry lies in this irrigated area, about 60 km north of Niono, to the west of the Fala de Molodo and the Distributeur de Kogoni.
N'Koumandougou is a rural commune in the Cercle of Ségou in the Ségou Region of Mali. The commune contains 15 villages in an area of approximately 2,040 square kilometers. In the 2009 census it had a population of 14,237. The chef-lieu is the village of Doura.
Sirifila-Boundy is a rural commune in the Cercle of Niono in the Ségou Region of Mali. It covers an area of approximately 159 square kilometers and includes 16 villages. In the 2009 census it had a population of 35,290. The seat of local government is the village of N'Debougou.

Dioura is a village and seat of the commune of Karéri in the Cercle of Ténenkou in the Mopti Region of southern-central Mali.
On 10 June 2019, the Dogon village of Sobane Da in Mali was attacked. Moulaye Guindo, mayor of neighbouring Bankass, blamed a Fulani militia group. The attack killed 35 people, revised from an earlier claim of 95 killed with 19 missing. A survivor said the attackers numbered about 50, driving motorbikes and pickup trucks. The government of Mali has suspected terrorists have committed the attack.
