Zarateana is a genus of small, air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Geomitridae, [1] the hairy snails and their allies. [2] [3]

The genus is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula.

Xeroplexa strucki is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Geomitridae. Although named by Maltzan (1886), no differences from X. olisippensis were indicated and Gittenberger therefore treated them as synonyms. However, the present study has revealed that the W. Algarve populations named as strucki and similar snails from the coast of W. Baixo Alentejo differ consistently in having a much shorter penial flagellum.
