Zethus is a very large, mainly neotropical genus of potter wasps with some species representation also in the Nearctic, Afrotropical, Australian and Indomalayan regions.
The genus is subdivided into a few subgenera which nevertheless need a phylogenetic analysis in order to recognize their natural limits.
See the separate list of Zethus species.
Delta is an Old World genus of potter wasps with species predominantly distributed through tropical Africa and Asia. Some species are present in the Palearctic region, and a few have been introduced in the Nearctic and Neotropical regions. The members of this genus have a long metasomal petiole, like members of the genera Eumenes and Zeta.
Katamenes is a genus of potter wasps with species distributed in Europe and Africa. When originally named by Edmund Meade-Waldo, Katemenes was monotypic, containing only K. watsoni, but other species have since been moved from Eumenes to Katamenes.
Paramischocyttarus is a small afrotropical and palearctic Zethus-like genus of potter wasps.
Elisella is a monotypic South African genus of potter wasps. The sole species is Elisella linae.
Pseudosphex is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Jacob Hübner in 1818. These moths are mimics of a variety of Hymenoptera. The prefix pseudo means "false", and Sphex is a genus of wasps.
Knemodynerus is a genus of potter wasps distributed through the Palearctic, Afrotropical, Indomalayan and Australasian regions. The species currently classified in the genus are:
Omicrabulus is an Afrotropical genus of potter wasps.
Leptomenes is a mainly Afrotropical genus of potter wasps. It was previously a much larger genus, though many species have been transferred to other genera such as Eumenidiopsis, Stroudia, and Tachymenes.
Eumenidiopsis is an afrotropical genus of Afrotropical potter wasps with eight known species, which are set out below:
Eustenancistrocerus is an Afrotropical, Palearctic and Oriental genus of potter wasps. The species in this genus include:
Extreuodynerus is an Afrotropical genus of potter wasps with a single described species Extreuodynerus mirificus.
Gioiella is an afrotropical genus of potter wasps with three described species.
Globepipona is an afrotropical genus of potter wasps with a single species, Globepipona zairensis.
Globodynerus is an afrotropical genus of potter wasps with a single species, Globodynerus globosus.
Interzumia is an afrotropical genus of potter wasps with a single species, Interzumia rufonigra.
Ischnogasteroides is an Afrotropical and Palearctic genus of potter wasps. It currently includes the following species:
Zetheumenidion is a small afrotropical genus of potter wasps currently containing 11 species, one of them previously with two subspecies. The species are distributed through southern and eastern Africa.
Emeryrhynchium is a monotypical afrotropical genus of potter wasps known from Equatorial Africa. Its only known species is Emeryrhynchium emeryanus.
Gibberrhynchium is a small Afrotropical genus of potter wasps.
Zethus spinipes is a species of stinging wasp in the family Vespidae found in the eastern United States.
