The Zimbabwe national badminton team (Shona : Chikwata chenyika cheZimbabwe badminton) represents Zimbabwe in international team competitions and is controlled by the Zimbabwe Badminton Association, the governing body for Zimbabwean badminton. [1] It is affiliated with the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA). [2]
Badminton was first played in Zimbabwe around the early 1960s. The national team was revived in 2008 after the reformation of the Zimbabwe Badminton Association. [3] The national team competed in the 2014 African Badminton Championships.
The Zimbabwean men's team competed in the 2016 Africa Continental Team Badminton Championships. The team were grouped with South Africa, Mauritius and Réunion in Group A. The team finished on the bottom of the group and failed to advance to the quarter-finals. [4] The team were also eliminated in the group stages two years later at the 2018 All Africa Men's Team Badminton Championships. [5]
The team competed in the 2022 All Africa Men's Team Badminton Championships. They lost 5–0 to Mauritius and Zambia. [6]
In 1980, Zimbabwe clinched the women's team title at the 1980 African Badminton Championships in Beira after defeating Tanzania, Mozambique, Nigeria and Kenya. [7]
In 2016, the women's team competed in the 2016 Africa Continental Team Badminton Championships. The team lost 5–0 to Mauritius and Ghana in the group stages. [8] They competed in the 2022 All Africa Men's Team Badminton Championships. The team were grouped with Uganda, Egypt and Algeria. The team lost all of their matches to the opposing teams. [9]
Zimbabwe debuted in the 1982 Commonwealth Games. They were eliminated in the group stages. [10]
The mixed team competed at the 2014 African Badminton Championships. The team were drawn into Group A with South Africa, Seychelles, Botswana and Cameroon. The team first lost 5–0 to South Africa, then won 3–2 against the Cameroonian team. The team later lost 5–0 to Botswana and Seychelles, thus failing to qualify for the quarter-finals. [11] [12]
The team made their fourth appearance at the African Mixed Team Championships in 2023. The team placed as third best in the group after winning their tie against Lesotho. [13] [14]

Kate Jessica Kim Lee Foo Kune is a badminton player from Mauritius. She began playing badminton in Mauritius at age six. Her first major tournament participation was 2013 BWF World Championships in China, where she lost in the first round of women's singles to Sarah Walker of England. Foo Kune represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the flag bearer for Mauritius during the Parade of Nations.
Aurélie Marie Elisa Allet is a Mauritian badminton player. She was the mixed doubles gold medalists at the 2013 African Junior Championships and 2014 African Youth Games. She competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, and in June 2018, Allet won her first senior international title at the Mauritius International tournament in the mixed doubles event with Julien Paul. Allet competed at the 2019 African Games, and won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event.
The Kenya national badminton team is a badminton team that plays for Kenya in international competitions. It is controlled by Kenya's governing body for the sport, Badminton Kenya. Kenya is one of the first three countries to compete in the inaugural African Badminton Championships in 1979.
The Algeria national badminton team represents Algeria in international badminton team competitions. The team made their first-ever appearance at the Thomas Cup in 2018. The Algerian team have never qualified for the Uber Cup and the Sudirman Cup.
The Egypt national badminton team represents Egypt in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by the Egyptian Badminton Federation, the governing body for badminton in Egypt.
The Wales national badminton team represents Wales in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by Badminton Wales, the national organization for badminton in the country. Wales have never participated in the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The team's last appearance in the international stage was at the 2007 Sudirman Cup.
The Belgium national badminton team represents Belgium in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Royal Belgian Badminton Federation. The Belgium national team have never qualified for the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The last time Belgium competed in the Sudirman Cup was in 2007.
The Belarus national badminton team represents Belarus in international badminton team competitions. The Belarusian team is managed by the Belarusian Badminton Federation (BBF) which organizes badminton championships and prepares Belarusian national badminton teams. The team was formed in 1992 after the association was found.

Barbados have never medaled at the Pan American Badminton Championships. The Barbadian mixed team started participating in the Commonwealth Games mixed team event since 2010.
The Mozambique national badminton team represents Mozambique in international badminton team competitions. The Mozambican national team is controlled by the Mozambique Badminton Federation located in Maputo.
The Cameroon national badminton team represents Cameroon in international team competitions. It is controlled by the Cameroon Badminton Federation, the governing body for Cameroonian badminton.
The DR Congo national badminton team represents DR Congo in international team competitions. The national team is controlled by the DR Congo Badminton Federation. The team are nicknamed Les Léopards.
The Benin national badminton team represents Benin in international team competitions. The team is controlled by the Badminton Federation of Benin. The Beninese mixed team competed in the 2019 African Badminton Championships.
The Tunisia national badminton team represents Tunisia in international team competitions. The Tunisian national team is managed by the Tunisian Badminton Federation. The men's team debuted in the African Badminton Championships in 2018.
The Ethiopia national badminton team represents Ethiopia in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Ethiopian Badminton Federation, the governing body for badminton in Ethiopia. The team was formed in the late 1990s following the establishment of the Ethiopian Badminton Federation.
The 2023 African Badminton Championships is the continental badminton championships to crown the best players and teams across Africa. The tournament was held at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni, South Africa, from 13 to 19 February 2023.
The Madagascar national badminton team represents Madagascar in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by the Madagascar Badminton Federation. The Malagasy mixed team made their debut in the 1998 African Badminton Championships and finished in third place.
The 2004 African Badminton Championships were the continental badminton championships to crown the best players and teams across Africa. The tournament was held at the National Badminton Centre in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Mauritius, from 18 to 24 April 2004. This tournament also served as the African qualifiers for the 2004 Summer Olympics badminton event.
