12 Yard Productions (Investments) Limited, [1] [2] trading as 12 Yard, is a British television production company. It was founded in 2001 as a joint-venture between David Young and the creative team behind the worldwide hit Weakest Link and Hat Trick Productions. [3] [4]
12 Yard has gone on to become one of the world's most successful entertainment format creators, producing hit formats including the BBC's long-running early evening quiz Eggheads , Saturday night BBC One lottery formats The National Lottery: In it to Win it and Who Dares Wins! , primetime feel-good format Holding out for a Hero , Take on the Twisters and Big Star's Little Star for ITV, and Coach Trip , Celebrity Coach Trip and Christmas Coach Trip for Channel 4.
On 5 December 2007, it was confirmed that ITV plc had acquired 12 Yard for £35 million. [5]
On 22 October 2024, ITV announced that they would close the studio at the end of the year, with its IPs and shows being transitioned off to other ITV Studios subsidiaries. [6]

BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. Eggheads is a British quiz show produced by 12 Yard. It was first broadcast in November 2003 chaired by Dermot Murnaghan. In 2008, Jeremy Vine became joint chair, and subsequently sole chair. The show has inspired three spinoff series: Are You an Egghead? (2008), Revenge of the Egghead (2014) and Make Me an Egghead (2016). There have also been episodes of the regular series featuring teams of celebrities in their own short series, with their own rolling prize fund.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is a British television quiz show, created by David Briggs, Steven Knight and Mike Whitehill for the ITV network. The programme's format has contestants answering multiple-choice questions based on general knowledge, winning a cash prize for each question they answer correctly, with the amount offered increasing as they take on more difficult questions. If an incorrect answer is given, the contestant will leave with whatever cash prize is guaranteed by the last safety net they have passed, unless they opt to walk away before answering the next question with the money they had managed to reach. To assist in the quiz, contestants are given a series of "lifelines" to help answer questions.

It was a spin-off from Eggheads with the goal to find two further Eggheads, one male and one female, to complement the existing team of seven. It ran from 22 August to 23 September 2016 and was won by Steve Cooke and Beth Webster. A similar show, Are You an Egghead?, aired in 2008 and 2009.
