The 2001 World Wushu Championships was the 6th edition of the World Wushu Championships. [1] [2] It was held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan, Armenia from October 31 to November 5, 2001.

The World Wushu Championships (WWC) is an international sports championship hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) for the sports of wushu taolu and sanda (sanshou). It has been held biennially since 1991 and is the pinnacle event of the IWUF. The World Wushu Championships also coincides with the IWUF Congress as well as with various committee meetings. This competition additionally serves as the qualification event for the Taolu World Cup and the Sanda World Cup.

Yuan Wenqing is a retired professional wushu taolu athlete from Shanxi, China. Nicknamed 'the prince of wushu,' he was known for his explosive speed and power, and is still widely regarded as one of the greatest wushu practitioners of all time. It is said that in the sport of wushu, the 1970s belonged to Jet Li, the 1980s to Zhao Changjun, and the 1990s to Yuan Wenqing.

The Wushu Federation of the Philippines (WFP) is the official national governing body for Wushu in the Philippines under the International Wushu Federation. The WFP is a regular member of Philippine Olympic Committee as NSA or National Sports Association.

At the 2002 Asian Games, she won the gold medal in women's taijiquan, Myanmar's first medal in wushu at the Asian Games. Her last competition was at the 2004 Asian Wushu Championships where she won a gold medal in taijiquan.

Li Fai is a retired professional wushu taolu athlete from Hong Kong. She was a four-time world champion and was a medalist at the Asian Games and the East Asian Games.

Toshiya Watanabe is a former taijiquan athlete from Japan who was a world champion.

Lo Nga Ching is a retired professional wushu taolu athlete from Hong Kong. She is an eight-time medalist at the World Wushu Championships and is a two-time world champion. She also won a silver medal in women's changquan at the 2001 East Asian Games. After retiring, she married He Jing De.

Cheng Ka Ho is a retired professional wushu taolu athlete and a former captain of the Hong Kong Wushu Team.

Chow Ting Yu, known professionally as Marvel Chow, is a retired professional wushu taolu athlete and actor from Hong Kong.

Nguyễn Phương Lan is a former wushu taolu athlete from Vietnam. She was among the first generation of renowned athletes from Vietnam, having achieved numerous victories in internal competition.
