Mayor Fernando Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte Jr. was on his first term, and he ran for re-election for second term. He faced former Mayor and defeated 2001 congressional candidate Ismael "Mel" Mathay Jr. and independent candidate Andres Co.

Vice Mayor Herbert Constantine "Bistek" Bautista was on his first term, and he ran for re-election for second term. He was challenged by actor and former Third District Councilor Fernando Cyril "Dingdong" Avanzado.

Fernando Feliciano "Sonny" Racimo Belmonte Jr., KGCR is a Filipino politician who served as the 18th speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines from January to June 2001 and from 2010 to 2016. Ismael Austria Mathay Jr., also known as Mel Mathay, was a Filipino politician and lawyer who last served as the Mayor of Quezon City from 1992 to 2001. Previously, he had also served as vice mayor of Quezon City from 1968 to 1971, secretary to the commissioner of the General Authority Office from 1972 to 1981, vice governor of the Metro Manila Commission from 1979 to 1986, an assemblyman representing Quezon City in the Regular Batasang Pambansa from 1984 to 1986, representative for the city's 4th district from 1987 to 1992, director of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System from 1979 to 1987, and chairman of the Metro Manila Authority from 1993 to 1994.

Local elections in Siquijor held on May 9, 2016 as part of the 2016 Philippine general election. Voters elected all local posts in the province: a town mayor, vice mayor, town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan - three in each of the province's two administrative districts, the governor, vice governor, and one representative for lone district of Siquijor.

These are term limited and retiring members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines during the 16th Congress of the Philippines. Term limited members are prohibited from running in the 2016 elections; they may run for any other positions, or may wait until the 2016 elections.
