Local elections were held in Mandaluyong on May 9, 2016, within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, one Congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city's two legislative districts.
The wives of the current city officials, will be running in their husbands' respective positions in the city. Carmelita Abalos, wife of Mayor Benhur Abalos will run for the Mayoralty position under the United Nationalist Alliance. [1] Meanwhile, former ABC-5 reporter Queenie Pahati-Gonzales, wife of Representative Neptali Gonzales II will run as the representative of lone district of the city under the Liberal Party, one of her opponents is Reyes Barbecue president Francisco Reyes, an independent candidate. Mandaluyong, officially the City of Mandaluyong, is a highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 425,758 people.
The People's Reform Party is a political party in the Philippines. Founded on April 12, 1991, as the political party of former Agrarian Reform Secretary Miriam Defensor Santiago for her bid as president in the 1992 Presidential Elections. During the 1992 Elections, the party nominated Santiago as president and Ramon "Jun" Magsaysay, Jr. as vice president, however both Santiago and Magsaysay lost the elections to former Defense Secretary Fidel Ramos and then-Senator Joseph Estrada, respectively. The Force of Reform Philippines (FORPH) serves as the official youth-wing of the People's Reform Party. While under the same Miriam Defensor Santiago wing, the Youth Reform Movement is not related to the PRP.
Benjamin Santos Abalos Sr. is a Filipino politician who currently serves as the mayor of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila since 2022, a position he also held from 1986 to 1987 and from 1988 to 1998. He also served as a chairman of the Commission on Elections and chairman of the MMDA. As a private citizen, he also serves as the president of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club and president of the Golfers Association of the Philippines. He is the father of former Mandaluyong mayor and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. His paternal grandson is politician, Jonathan Clement Abalos.
Neptali "Boyet" Medina Gonzales II is a Filipino politician serving as the Representative of Mandaluyong's Lone District since 2019, and previously in the 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th Congress. He was also one of the House Deputy Speakers during the entire 18th Congress and has been the House Majority Leader from 2001 to 2004 and again from 2010 to 2016.

Benjamin "Benhur" de Castro Abalos Jr. is a Filipino politician and lawyer who served as Secretary of the Interior and Local Government from 2022 to 2024 in the Cabinet of President Bongbong Marcos. He served as chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in the Duterte administration from 2021 to 2022. In his hometown of Mandaluyong, he previously served as mayor, representative (2004–2007), and councilor (1995–1998). His father and namesake, Benjamin Abalos, is a former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) chairman, and like Benhur, also served as mayor of Mandaluyong and MMDA chairman.
Mandaluyong High School is a high school located in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Republic of the Philippines. Founded in 1977 through the initiative of the late Mayor Renato I. Lopez, Mandaluyong High School is the oldest public secondary school of Mandaluyong. Due to its scarcity of classrooms during its pioneering years, some classes had to be held in three different elementary schools. Evolving into a comprehensive four-year public high school with the construction of additional buildings and various facilities, the school now educates around 3,800 students in six buildings. With 55 classrooms, it has the largest building of all the city's schools.
