Local elections were held in Meycauayan City, Bulacan on May 9, 2016, within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors.
Due to term limitation, Incumbent City Mayor Joan Alarilla is taking her luck to be the next House Representative of 4th District of Bulacan. She will facing the incumbent 4th District House Representative Linabelle Villarica.
While in Meycauayan City, the daughter of Joan Alarilla, Judy Alarilla is running for City mayor under the Nationalist Peoples Coalition and her opponent, the Husband of House Representative Linabelle Villarica, Attorney Henry Villarica whose running for Liberal Party. The other candidate is Pabling Milan, an independent candidate.
The candidates for mayor and vice mayor with the highest number of votes wins the seat; they are voted separately, therefore, they may be of different parties when elected.

Henry Resurreccion Villarica, also known as Atorni Henry, is a Filipino attorney and politician who is currently serving as City Mayor of Meycauayan. He previously served as Mayor from 2016 until 2019, and served as the member of the Philippine House of Representatives from the 4th District of Bulacan from 2019 until 2022. He is also the president of Villarica Pawnshop, which was founded by his parents.
Linabelle Ruth Ramos Villarica is a Filipino politician who currently serves as the member of the House of Representatives from the 4th District of Bulacan since 2022 and previously from 2010 to 2019. She previously served as mayor of Meycauayan from 2019 to 2022.
Joan Velasco Alarilla is a Filipino politician who was mayor of Meycauayan from 2007 until 2016. Alarilla ran for the congressional seat for the 4th District in the 2016 elections, but she lost to Linabelle Villarica.
Bulacan's 4th congressional district is one of the seven congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Bulacan. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district consists of the city of Meycauayan and adjacent municipalities in southern Bulacan, namely Marilao, and Obando. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Linabelle Villarica of the PDP–Laban.
