The J1 League or simply J1 is the top division of the Japan Professional Football League and the top professional association football J.League in Japan. It is one of the most successful leagues in Asian club football. Currently, the J1 League is the first level of the Japanese association football league system. The second tier is represented by the J2 League. It is currently sponsored by Meiji Yasuda Life and thus officially known as the Meiji Yasuda J1 League. Until the 2014 season it was named the J.League Division 1.
Júbilo Iwata is a professional Japanese association football team that currently play in the J2 League. The team name Júbilo means 'joy' in Spanish and Portuguese. The team's hometown is Iwata, Shizuoka prefecture and they play at Yamaha Stadium. For big fixtures such as the Shizuoka Derby with Shimizu S-Pulse and against some of the top teams in J1, Júbilo play at the much larger Ecopa Stadium in Fukuroi City, a venue built specifically for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. They practice at Okubo Ground in Iwata and Iwata Sports Park Yumeria.
Kazuyoshi Miura, often known simply as Kazu, is a Japanese footballer who plays as a forward for Yokohama FC in the J1 League. He played for the Japanese national team from 1990 to 2000, and was the first Japanese recipient of the Asian Footballer of the Year award in 1993, the last year before it was adopted by the Asian Football Confederation. Miura, whose rise to fame in Japan coincided with the launch of the J.League in 1993, was arguably Japan's first superstar in football. He is also known for his trademark "Kazu Feint" and his famous "Kazu dance", when he scores great goals or produces great plays.
Gamba Osaka is a Japanese professional association football club currently playing in the J1 League, the top division of Japanese football. The team's name Gamba comes from the Italian word "gamba" meaning "leg" and the Japanese ganbaru (頑張る), meaning "to do your best" or "to stand firm". Located in Suita, Osaka, the team's home stadium is Suita City Football Stadium.
Shunsuke Nakamura is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Yokohama FC in J2 League. He is the first and only person to have been named J.League Most Valuable Player more than once, receiving the award in 2000 and 2013. He is well known for his vision, touch, bending shots and free kick-taking abilities; Steve Perryman once remarked that Nakamura "could open a tin of beans with his left foot".
Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü, also known simply as Beşiktaş, is a Turkish sports club founded in 1903, and based in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey. The club's football team is one of the most successful teams in Turkey, having never been relegated to a lower division. The team last won the Turkish Süper Lig championship during the 2016–17 season. The home ground of Beşiktaş is Vodafone Park, a 41,903 capacity all-seater stadium located next to Dolmabahçe Palace.
