During the 2007 season, Urawa Red Diamonds competed in the J. League 1, the top tier of Japanese football, in which they finished as runners-up. The club also competed in two domestic cup competitions, the Emperor's Cup and the J. League Cup, being eliminated in the fourth round of the former, and at the quarter-final stage in the latter competition. The club also competed in the 2007 Japanese Super Cup but lost 4–0 to Gamba Osaka.
In addition to domestic competitions, Urawa competed in the AFC Champions League, winning the competition for the first time, and subsequently took part in the FIFA Club World Cup, in which they finished 3rd.

The J1 League, a.k.a. the J.League or the Meiji Yasuda J1 League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Japan Professional Football League system. Founded in 1992, it is one of the most successful leagues in Asian professional club football history. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the J2 League. It was known as the J.League from 1993 to 1998 before becoming a two-division league, and as J.League Division 1 from 1999 to 2014.
The Urawa Red Diamonds, colloquially Urawa Reds, also known as Mitsubishi Urawa Football Club from April 1992 to January 1996, are a professional football club in the city of Saitama, part of the Greater Tokyo Area in Japan. The 2016 Gamba Osaka season was Gamba Osaka's 23rd season in the J1 League and 29th overall in the Japanese top flight. Like the previous season, the 2016 campaign was split into two stages, with the first stage running from February to June, the second stage being held between July and November and finally a Championship stage in late November. With city-rivals Cerezo Osaka failing to gain promotion from J2, Gamba's main rivalry match was the Hanshin derby against Vissel Kobe with an away game held in round 4 on the 19th March and the return home match in round 26 on August 20. Gamba finished in 6th place in the first stage of the season and 4th place in the second stage for an overall 4th-place finish.
The 2014 season was Kashima Antlers' 22nd consecutive season in J.League Division 1, the top flight of Japanese football since the introduction of professional football in 1993. The club finished the 2014 J.League Division 1 in third place, two places above their position from the previous season. They also competed in the Emperor's Cup where they were surprisingly knocked out in the second round by JFL club Sony Sendai FC and the J.League Cup where they did not make it past the group stage.
The 2023 Urawa Red Diamonds season was their 73rd season in existence and the 23rd consecutive season in the J1 League. In addition to the league, the club competed in the Emperor's Cup, the J. League Cup, the 2023–24 AFC Champions League and the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
