The 2011 European Short Course Swimming Championships were held in Szczecin, Poland, from December 8 to 11, 2011. [1] [2] The event featured competition in a short course (25m) pool.

Contents

The event was held over four days with heats, semifinals and a final for the 50 m and 100 m events and heats and a final for all other events with the exception of the women's 800 m and men's 1500 m freestyle which were heat-declared winners. Heats were held in the morning, with semifinals, finals and the fastest heat of the distance freestyle events in the evening. [3]

Each nation was permitted to enter four swimmers into each individual event, however only the fastest two were allowed to progress to the semifinal and/or final.

Daniel Carlsson is a former swimmer from Sweden. He won gold medals in 4 × 50 m medley relay at the 1998 and 1999 European Short Course Swimming Championships and 4 × 50 m freestyle at 1998. He won also a bronze medal in 50 m backstroke at 1998. He competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Erik Tony Emanuel Andersson is a butterfly, freestyle and medley swimmer from Sweden currently representing Linköpings ASS. He started his career in Trollhättans SS, but moved to Linköping and Linköpings ASS to study at the Linköping University. Andersson participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens finishing 32nd on the 100 m butterfly. He also has bronze medal on 4x50 m freestyle relay from the European SC Championships 2004 in Wien together with David Nordenlilja, Marcus Piehl and Petter Stymne.

Gabriella Fagundez is a Swedish swimmer. She currently holds the 800 m and 1500 m freestyle national records, and was part of the teams that holds the Swedish 4 × 100 m record and 4 × 200 m freestyle.

The 2009 European Short Course Swimming Championships was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 December 2009. A temporary swimming pool was built within the Abdi İpekçi Arena.

Magdalena Kuras is a Swedish freestyle swimmer representing Malmö KK. She represented Sweden in the 2007 World Aquatics Championships, where she swam the 100 m freestyle and the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay and in the 2008 European Aquatics Championships, where she won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay along with Claire Hedenskog, Josefin Lillhage, Ida Marko-Varga.

The Swimming portion of the 13th FINA World Aquatics Championships was held at the Foro Italico sports complex in Rome, Italy from Sunday 26 July – Sunday 2 August 2009. It featured 40 long course (50m) events.

Blake Thomas Worsley is a Canadian Olympic swimmer. He competed for Canada at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships and the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where he finished 12th. He was raised in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and swam for the University of Denver.

The 2010 European Short Course Swimming Championships was held 25–28 November 2010 at Pieter van den Hoogenband Zwemstadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet featured competition amongst national teams from Europe, in 38 short course (25m) swimming events.

The 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 13 to 17 December 2017. The meet was held in the Royal Arena, which was finished in early 2017. It was the first major sports event in this arena, which has a capacity of circa 12,500.
