2011 FEI World Cup Finals

The 2011 FEI World Cup Finals in Leipzig, Germany were the Final of four World Cups in different Equestrian sports. They were held in the exhibition halls 1 and 3 at the new Leipzig Trade Fair from April 27 to May 1, 2011.

First time ever four horse sport World Cup Finals was held at the same place.

Horse sport in Leipzig

Since 1998 the new Leipzig Trade Fair is the location of “Partner Pferd“, a trade fair around the horse and a horse show with show jumping and dressage competitions. [1]

First time in 2008 Vaulting competitions are part of the “Partner Pferd“. From 2001 to 2007 also Reining horse show, called “ L.E. Grand Open”, are part of the “Partner Pferd“ Leipzig. [2]

Trade fair and horse show held usually each year in January. In 2011 these events were moved to the end of April.

Disciplines at the World Cup Finals

Competitions in four equestrian disciplines are part of the FEI World Cup Finals 2011. The finals of the following international series are part of this horse show:

At the same time held an international show jumping horse show (CSI 3*) and finals of national series at the “Partner Pferd“ 2011. [3]

Grand Prix Freestyle (Final)

The second competition of the Dressage World Cup final is the Grand Prix Freestyle, held at the evening of Saturday, April 30. The winner of the Grand Prix Freestyle will be the World Cup Champion of the 2010/2011 season. [5]

Further competitions

European Youngster Cup-Super Final

At Friday morning (April 29, 2011) the “Super Final“ of the European Youngster Cup (EY-Cup) season 2010 was held. It was a show jumping competition with one jump-off for riders up to the age of 26.

The chance to start in this final had:

  • the best riders of the regular Final of the European Youngster Cup 2010 at the CSI 4* Frankfurt [13]
  • the four most successful riders of qualifying competitions in the United States [14]
  • the Winner of the Grand Prix of the “Salut-Festival” Aachen (one of the most important show jumping event for young riders in Germany) [15]

The 2010/2011 Vaulting World Cup season was a test season, the first World Cup season ever in Vaulting history. [26] [27]

The World Cup Final consists of two freestyle competitions. Both competitions was held separated by gender. The first competition was held at Friday midday (April 29, 2011), the second competition at Saturday midday (April 30, 2011). The vaulter with the best average of both competition results is the World Cup Champion of the 2010/2011 season. [28]

The European Dressage Championships are the European championships for the equestrian discipline of dressage. They are held every two years in odd-numbered years. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in both individual and team competitions. There are also championships held for juniors, young riders, and ponies. Since 2015, the competition has shared a site and branding with vaulting, reining, jumping, and driving events. For sponsorship reasons, eventing is not included, as it is part of the FEI European Championships, echoing the combined World Equestrian Games concept. The first official combined event took place in Aachen in 2015.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Edward Gal</span> Dutch dressage rider (born 1970)

Edward Gal is a Dutch dressage rider. He and the stallion Totilas, were triple gold medalists at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, becoming the first horse-rider partnership ever to sweep the three available dressage gold medals at a single FEI World Games. Going into the 2010 Games, they had amassed multiple world-record scores in international competition, leading one American journalist to call them "rock stars in the horse world". After the World Equestrian Games, Totilas was sold to German trainer Paul Schockemöhle. Gal continues to be successful training and competing dressage horses at the international level. Despite the success, he has been criticised to be harsh trainer who creates stressed and fearful horses.

The 2010 Falsterbo Horse Show, the official Swedish show jumping horse show, was held between July 8 and July 11 as CSIO 5* and CDI 5*.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2010 CHIO Aachen</span>

The 2010 CHIO Aachen was the 2010 edition of the CHIO Aachen, the German official horse show in five horse sport disciplines.

The 2010 Longines Royal International Horse Show was that year's edition of the Royal International Horse Show, the British official show jumping competition at All England Jumping Course at Hickstead. It was held as CSIO 5* and CDI 5*.

The London International Horse Show, formerly the Olympia London International Horse Show, is one of the UK's biggest equestrian competitions. It is best known as the host of the UK legs of the FEI World Cup series in dressage, show jumping and driving, however it also has multiple other showjumping classes, as well as fun competitions such as a Shetland pony race and a dog agility competition. Many competitions are broadcast live by the BBC, and all are streamed. The show is held over six days during the week preceding Christmas, and typically involves over 400 horses and ponies.

The FEI World Cup Dressage Final is an annual international dressage series involving the world's best dressage horses and riders. It has been held since 1985. The World Cup is run in the form of a CDI.

The 2011 Falsterbo Horse Show was the 2011 edition of the Falsterbo Horse Show, the Swedish official show jumping horse show. It was held as CSIO 5* and CDI 5*.

The World Dressage Masters – shortened WDM – is an international dressage series held since 2009. All events of the series are held as CDI 5*, the highest level of dressage events.

The 2011 CHIO Aachen was the 2011 edition of the CHIO Aachen, the German official horse show in five horse sport disciplines.

The 2011 Longines Royal International Horse Show was the 2011 edition of the Royal International Horse Show, the British official show jumping horse show at All England Jumping Course at Hickstead. It was held as CSIO 5* and CDI 5*.

The 2011 European Dressage Championship was held from August 17 and August 21, 2011 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Western European League of the FEI World Cup Jumping 2011/2012 is the 34th edition of the west and central European league of the Show Jumping World Cup. In this area the Western European League is the most important indoor series in show jumping.

The 2012 FEI World Cup Finals in 's-Hertogenbosch was held from April 19 to April 22, 2012. It was the final of the Show jumping and Dressage World Cup series. This finals was held in the Brabanthallen. Because of the close date of the 2012 Summer Olympics, many riders did not compete in these competitions.

The 2011 CHIO Rotterdam was the 2012 edition of the CHIO Rotterdam, the Dutch official show jumping horse show. It was held as CSIO 5* in show jumping, CDIO 3* and CDI 3* in dressage.

The 2012 CHIO Aachen was the 2012 edition of the CHIO Aachen, the German official horse show in five horse sport disciplines.

The 2014 FEI World Cup Finals in Lyon was held between April 17 and April 21, 2014. It was the final of the Show jumping and Dressage World Cup series. The finals were held in the Lyon Euroexpo. For the first time since 1987, the Show Jumping World Cup Final was held in France while the Dressage World Cup Final had not been held in France since 1991.

The 2023 FEI World Cup Finals for dressage, show jumping and Vaulting are scheduled to be held April 4–8, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The event is set to be held in the CHI Health Center Omaha and will mark the conclusion of the 2022–23 Dressage, Show jumping and Vaulting World Cup Seasons.
