It was their first title together, and they saved 7 match points en route, in the quarterfinals. With the victory, Lisicki claimed her third doubles title overall, while it was the 38th for Hingis, and the first since her second professional comeback in the summer of 2013. The pair entered the tournament via a wildcard.

Chan Yung-jan and Martina Hingis defeated Lucie Hradecká and Kateřina Siniaková in the final, 6–3, 6–2 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2017 US Open. It was their first Grand Slam title together, and their seventh title overall, all in 2017.
Sania Mirza and Barbora Strýcová were the defending champions, but chose not to participate together. Mirza played alongside Peng Shuai, but lost in the semifinals to Hsieh Su-wei and Monica Niculescu. Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Nicole Melichar and Květa Peschke in the final, 6–4, 4–6, 6–0 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. They became the first team to win the Channel Slam since Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama in 2003, and the first team to win both the Wimbledon junior and senior doubles titles together.
Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic won the women's doubles tennis title at the 2018 Australian Open, defeating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 6–4, 6–3. It was the first Grand Slam title for Babos, who became the first Hungarian player to win a Grand Slam event since Andrea Temesvári in the 1986 French Open and the second Grand Slam title for Mladenovic.
Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová defeated Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan in the final, 6−2, 6−4 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. With the win, Strýcová attained the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking for the first time – Kristina Mladenovic, Elise Mertens and Ashleigh Barty were also in contention for the top ranking. Hsieh and Strýcová won the title without losing a set during the tournament.
