The Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings (LWBRR), known as World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings (WTRR) before 2012, are horseracing's equivalent to World Rankings by other major sporting organizations such as ATP Tennis Rankings, World Golf Rankings, FIFA World Rankings for soccer and IRB Rugby World Rankings. The Longines Rankings are based on the rating earned by horses running worldwide from North and South America, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, Asia through to Australia and New Zealand.

The Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Ireland open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and geldings. It is run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at Leopardstown in March or April.

The Australian Stud Book (ASB), is the body responsible for ensuring the integrity of Thoroughbred breeding in Australia. Australia is the second-largest Thoroughbred breeding country in the world behind the US. The principal functions of the ASB include identification procedures along with DNA testing of mares and foals and the recording of a mare’s progeny and stallion statistics. In 2003 the ASB introduced microchips for foals, which is the most secure means of horse identification when and combined with freeze branding, provides racing officials with the most dependable identification system in the world.
Rewilding was a thoroughbred racehorse. He won races at Royal Ascot and in Dubai. His finest hour came when winning the 2011 Prince Of Wales Stakes, beating Australian superstar So You Think. As a 3-year-old he won the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood and the Great Voltiguer Stakes at York.

Novellist is an Irish-bred, German-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He has won major races in four countries including the Gran Premio del Jockey Club in Italy, the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in France, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the United Kingdom and the Grosser Preis von Baden in Germany. He was rated the fifth-best racehorse in the world and was voted German Horse of the Year for his performances in 2013.
Variety Club is a South African Thoroughbred racehorse. Racing in his native country, the horse won numerous major races including the Cape Guineas, the Queen's Plate and two editions of the Rising Sun Gold Challenge. He was voted South African Horse of the Year in both 2012 and 2013. After a complicated and protracted quarantine procedure he was allowed to compete internationally and established himself as one of the best horses in the world in 2014 with wins in the Godolphin Mile in Dubai and the Champions Mile in Hong Kong. He was retired from racing in autumn 2014 to become a breeding stallion in South Africa.

Fenomeno is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. After winning one minor race as a two-year-old he emerged as a top-class performer in the following year, taking the Aoba Sho and St Lite Kinen and finishing a close second in both the Tokyo Yushun and the autumn edition of the Tenno Sho. In his third campaign he won the Nikkei Sho and the spring edition of the Tenno Sho before his season was ended by injury. At the end of that year he was rated the best horse in the world over extended distances. He won a second Tenno Sho in 2014 but failed to win again and was retired to stud at the end of 2015.
