For the first time since 2009, the event was not held in conjunction with the same year's World Senior Championships.

The 2013 World Women's Curling Championship was held at the Volvo Sports Centre in Riga, Latvia from March 16 to 24. It marked the first time that Latvia has hosted the World Women's Championship. This event was also a qualifying event for the 2014 Winter Olympics, awarding points to countries based on performance at the worlds.

2013 World Mens Curling Championship

The 2013 World Men's Curling Championship was held from March 30 to April 7, 2013 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This marked the twenty-first time that Canada hosted the World Men's Championship, the fifth time that the province of British Columbia hosted the World Men's Championship, and the second time that Victoria hosted the World Men's Championship. Victoria previously hosted the championships in 2005. The event was also a qualifying event for the 2014 Winter Olympics, awarding points to countries based on performance at this tournament.

2013 World Wheelchair Curling Championship

The 2013 World Wheelchair Curling Championship was held from February 16 to 23 at the Sochi Olympic Curling Centre in Sochi, Russia. Canada won their third title after defeating Sweden in the final with a score of 4–3, becoming the first nation to win three world wheelchair curling titles.

The women's tournament of the 2012 World Senior Curling Championships was held from April 14 to 21.

2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held from April 13 to 20 at the newly constructed Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The event was held in conjunction with the 2013 World Senior Curling Championships. This event marked the first time that Canada has hosted a World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship since its inception in 2008.

The women's tournament of the 2012 European Curling Championships was held at the Löfbergs Lila Arena and the Karlstad Curling Club in Karlstad, Sweden from December 7 to 15. The winners of the Group C tournament in Erzurum, Turkey moved on to the Group B tournament. The top seven women's teams at the 2012 European Curling Championships, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy and Germany, will represent their respective nations at the 2013 World Women's Curling Championship in Riga, Latvia.

The winners of the Group C tournament in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands moved on to the Group B tournament. The top eight women's teams at the 2013 European Curling Championships will represent their respective nations at the 2015 World Women's Curling Championship in Sapporo, Japan.

2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held in Stavanger, Norway from April 20 to 27, 2019. The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 World Senior Curling Championships. A record forty-eight nations competed in the event, including Kosovo, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine competing in their first World Curling Federation events.

2021 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

The 2021 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held from May 17 to 23 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The 2022 World Senior Curling Championships are currently being held from April 23 to 30 at the Curling Club Trois-Chêne in Thônex, a suburb of Geneva, Switzerland. The event was held alongside the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.
