Martyrs Lane Cemetery in Baku

Martyrs' Lane or Alley of Martyrs, formerly known as the Kirov Park, is a cemetery and memorial in Baku, Azerbaijan dedicated to those killed by the Soviet Army during Black January 1990 and in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War of 1988–1994.

Heydar Aliyev Center

The Heydar Aliyev Center is a 57,500 m2 (619,000 sq ft) building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. The center is named after Heydar Aliyev, the first secretary of Soviet Azerbaijan from 1969 to 1982, and president of Azerbaijan Republic from October 1993 to October 2003.

Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev is the fourth president of Azerbaijan, serving in the post since 31 October 2003.

There are memorials around the globe dedicated to the Azerbaijani victims of the Khojaly massacre — mostly civilians, but also armed troops — by local irregular Armenian forces and the 366th CIS regiment in the town of Khojaly on 26 February 1992.

The Khojaly massacre is currently recognized and commemorated by parliamentary acts adopted in fifteen countries and in twenty-three U.S. states.

In 1991, Azerbaijan joined the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and started to build relations with the organization. As a result, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia was given a mandate of permanent representative of Azerbaijan to the General Secretariat of the OIC in May 1994.

Azerbaijan Higher Military Academy

The Azerbaijan Higher Military Academy named after Heydar Aliyev is an educational institution of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. In order to be admitted into the academy, candidates have to be between the ages of 17 and 19 and have completed secondary school education.

Polad Israyil oghlu Hashimov, was an Azerbaijani military officer, National Hero of Azerbaijan and a major general who served as the Deputy Commander and the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Azerbaijan—France relations refer to the bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the French Republic in the political, socio-economic, cultural, and other spheres.

Kanan Alihuseyn oglu Seyidov is an Azerbaijani military officer. He is a major general of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and deputy commander of the Special Forces. As an officer of the Azerbaijani special forces, he participated in the 2016 Nagorno–Karabakh clashes and the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and was one of the Azerbaijani commanders during the 2020 battle of Shusha. He had received the title of the Hero of the Patriotic War.

Heydar Kamal oglu Piriyev is an Azerbaijani military officer and lieutenant general of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. He is a veteran of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. He is the current Chief of the War College of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces
