A leadership election was held on 14 June 2015 in the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). The leadership election took place after the 10th Congress of the Party, after PASOK's record low voteshare in the January 2015 Greek legislative election. [1]
Candidates included Andreas Loverdos, Odysseas Konstantinopoulos and Fofi Gennimata, who ultimately came on top. [2]
Due to the record low election results in the January 2015 elections and the electoral and parliamentary shrinking of PASOK, the party's internal organs began preparing for a Congress.
The 10th Congress of PASOK began on June 5 and lasted three days. The Congress decided on the shifting of PASOK to a party of the broader Centre-Left and the election of a new president by all party members on June 14. Finally, the new members of the Central Political Committee were elected.
On August 31, 2015, Fofi Gennimata and the president of the Democratic Left Thanasis Theocharopoulos, announced an electoral coalition between the two parties in the following elections, under the name Democratic Alignment. [3] Finally, the coalition of parties increased its percentages compared to the January election, receiving 6.28% and 17 seats, against 4.68% (13 seats) and 0.48% (no seats) for PASOK and DIMAR, respectively. One of the seats was occupied by Thanasis Theocharopoulos, while the remaining 16 were occupied by PASOK. [4]

George Andreas Papandreou is an American-born Greek politician who served as Prime Minister of Greece from 2009 to 2011. He is currently serving as an MP for Movement for Change.
The Panhellenic Socialist Movement, known mostly by its acronym PASOK, is a social-democratic political party in Greece. Until 2012 it was one of the two major parties in the country, along with New Democracy, its main political rival. In the June 2023 Greek legislative election it once again held firm on to its position of one of the ”big three” political parties of Greece. The general trend, in fact, seems to lead to the return of PASOK at least to the position of official opposition if not in the position of the government of Greece. In the elections for the European Parliament, Greek elections for EU parliament ,it was the only major party to significantly increase its percentages in contrast to the other two which collapsed
The Coalition of the Radical Left – Progressive Alliance, best known by the syllabic abbreviation SYRIZA, is a centre-left to left-wing political party in Greece. It was founded in 2004 as a political coalition of left-wing and radical left parties, and registered as a political party in 2012.
Parliamentary elections were held in Greece on Sunday, 16 September 2007 to elect the 300 members of the Hellenic Parliament. The leading party for a second term was New Democracy under the leadership of Kostas Karamanlis with 42%, followed by George Papandreou and PASOK with 38%. New Democracy managed to secure an absolute but narrow majority of 152 out of 300 seats in parliament. The populist Popular Orthodox Rally entered the parliament for the first time with 10 seats, while the parties of the left, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and Syriza, enjoyed a significant increase in their vote share. KKE received 8% of the votes and won 22 seats, while Syriza received 5% of the votes and 14 seats.
The 2002 Greek local elections elected representatives to Greece's super-prefectures, 54 prefectures, provinces, and approximately 1,033 communities and municipalities.
Democratic Left was a social-democratic political party in Greece. Formed as a split from Synaspismós, DIMAR was a minor party supporting the Samaras cabinet from 21 June 2012 to 21 June 2013. After being a member of the Democratic Alignment (DISI) and the Movement for Change (KINAL), it affiliated to Syriza in 2019. The party was dissolved in 2022.
Georgios Gennimatas was a Greek politician and founding member of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). He studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He occupied several cabinet posts in the PASOK governments under Andreas Papandreou, serving as Minister of Interior (1981–1984), Welfare and Social Insurance (1984–1987), Labour (1987–1989) and National Economy. He is most notable for his official recognition of the left-wing fighters of the Greek Resistance during World War II and his healthcare and welfare reforms which established the National Health System of Greece. His daughter Fofi Gennimata was also a PASOK politician.
Legislative elections were held in Greece on Sunday 25 January 2015 to elect all 300 members of the Hellenic Parliament in accordance with the constitution. The election was held earlier than scheduled due to the failure of the Greek parliament to elect a new president on 29 December 2014.
The River was a centrist and social-liberal political party in Greece. The party was founded in February 2014 by Stavros Theodorakis. The party did not run in the 2019 elections and had no seats in the Hellenic Parliament.
Indirect presidential elections were held in Greece in December 2014 and February 2015 for the succession to Karolos Papoulias as President of the Hellenic Republic. The candidate of the ND–PASOK government, Stavros Dimas, failed to secure the required majority of MPs of the Hellenic Parliament in the first three rounds of voting in December. According to the provisions of the Constitution of Greece, a snap election was held on 25 January 2015, which was won by the left-wing Syriza party. Following the convening of the new Parliament, the presidential election resumed. On 18 February 2015, veteran ND politician Prokopis Pavlopoulos, backed by the Syriza-ANEL coalition government, was elected with 233 votes.
Nikos Androulakis is a Greek politician who serves as president of the PASOK – Movement for Change since 2021. He served also as Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2023.
The Movement of Democratic Socialists is a political party in Greece established on 3 January 2015 by George Papandreou after splitting from the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). The party officially uses To Kinima as the party's name abbreviation, although several media outlets and opinion pollsters have referred to it using the acronym KIDISO (ΚΙΔΗΣΟ).

Fotini "Fofi" Gennimata was a Greek politician who served as president of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) from 2015 to 2021. During her tenure as party leader, she also co-founded and led the Democratic Alignment and the Movement for Change, two successive political alliances of centre-left parties formed around PASOK. She was the daughter of Georgios Gennimatas, a high-profile government minister during the PASOK administrations of the 1980s and 1990s.

A leadership election was held on 12 November and 19 November 2017 by the centre-left political parties of Greece, with the participation of Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), Greece's main centre-left party and The River (Potami), another parliamentary party. The Movement of Democratic Socialists (KIDISO) and the Union of Democratic National Reform movement (EDEM) also supported the elections. The first round of election was held on 12 November. No candidate gained 50% of the votes, so a runoff vote was held on 19 November. The elections were regulated by an election committee under the presidency of Nikos Alivizatos.
Thanassis Theocharopoulos is an agricultural economist, Greek politician and chairman of the Democratic Left (DIMAR). In 2019 he served as Tourism Minister for Syriza.
The 2021 Movement for Change leadership election took place on 5 December 2021, in which six candidates took part. Since none of the candidates received 50% of the vote, a runoff election took place in 12 December, between Nikos Androulakis and George Papandreou.
The 2024 PASOK – Movement for Change leadership election will take place on the 6th of October 2024, with a second round, if needed, on the 13th of the same month, in order to elect the president of PASOK – Movement for Change.
The 2004 PASOK leadership election took place on 8 February 2004. Only one candidate stood for the presidency, George Papandreou, who received 99,70% of the vote. 1,020,145 members and friends of the Party participated in the elections, a record still unbroken for internal party elections in Greece.
