The 2016 FIA European Touring Car Cup was the twelfth running of the FIA European Touring Car Cup. It consisted of six events in France (twice), Slovakia, Germany, Portugal and Italy.
The championship was split into two categories: Super 2000 (including TC2 Turbo, TC2 and TCN-2 machinery) and Super 1600. [1]
The races at the Nürburgring had both WTCC and ETCC competitors. ETCC competitors entered with their usual car numbers, but with 100 added up to it.

Diego Romanini is an Italian auto racing driver. He has competed in the World Touring Car Championship and was the Austria Formula 3 Cup champion in 2001 and 2003.
The FIA European Touring Car Cup was an annual touring car racing event, which had been held at various locations across Europe from 2005 to 2017. Unlike in previous years where it was a one-off event, in 2010 the series was a three-round event.
Münnich Motorsport GmbH, which also competes under the title All-Inkl.com Racing, is an auto racing team founded by German racing driver and entrepreneur René Münnich in 2006. The team has been built around three areas of motorsport since its inception, sports car racing, rallycross and touring car racing, although in recent years it has focussed on the latter two. The 2012 FIA European Touring Car Cup is the eighth running of the FIA European Touring Car Cup. It will consist of four events in Italy, Slovakia and Austria. The events will consist of two races run over a distance of approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) each. For the first time, five FIA categories will be eligible to enter: Super 2000, Super 1600, Super Production, SEAT León Supercopa and Renault Clio Cup.
NIKA racing is a Swedish racing team, founded by former racing driver Nicklas Karlsson along with Eric Lindgren which currently competes in the World Touring Car Championship. A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to Balance of Performance adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.
