2019 TCR Europe Touring Car Series

The 2019 TCR Europe Touring Car Series was the fourth season of TCR Europe Touring Car Series, and second held as a standalone series. The season began at the Hungaroring in April and ended at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in October. [1]

Contents

As part of an deal with the series' promoters, at five of the seven events, the 2019 TCR BeNeLux Touring Car Championship series is held which is its fourth edition. Also a third competition will be held with the establishment of the TCR Eastern Europe Trophy which will be held on two of the seven events of the calendar, as well as having four standalone events. [2] [3]

Mikel Azcona is the defending drivers' champion, while Hell Energy Racing with KCMG are the defending teams' champions. In TCR BeNeLux Jean-Karl Vernay is the defending drivers' champion while Leopard Lukoil Team WRT are the defending teams' champions. [4]

Calendar

The calendar was announced on 5 December 2018 with 7 rounds scheduled. [5] The second round, which was scheduled to be held at unknown venue in the Netherlands, was replaced on 28 January 2019 with Hockenheimring. [6] Five of the seven events from the calendar are also valid for the TCR BeNeLux Touring Car Championship.

The 2018 TCR Europe Touring Car Series was the third holding of TCR Europe, and first held as a standalone series. The series began at the Circuit Paul Ricard in May and ended at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October.

The 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup was the inaugural season of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). It took over from the World Touring Car Championship and adopted the TCR technical regulations. It was also the 14th overall season of the series that dates from the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. <span class="mw-page-title-main">TCR Touring Car</span> Touring car racing specification

A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to balance of performance (BoP) adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.

Kris Richard is a Swiss racing driver currently competing in the TCR Europe Series. Having previously competed in the World Touring Car Cup, World Touring Car Championship and European Touring Car Cup amongst others.

The 2019 World Touring Car Cup was the second season of the World Touring Car Cup and 15th overall of World Touring Cars promoted by Discovery Sports Events, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship.

The 2020 TCR Australia Series was to be an Australian motor racing competition for TCR cars. It was planned to be the second TCR Australia Series and was to be run as part of the renamed Motorsport Australia Championships. The Series was sanctioned by Motorsport Australia as a National Series with the Australian Racing Group appointed as the Category Manager.

The 2020 TCR Europe Touring Car Series is the fifth season of TCR Europe Touring Car Series. The season will begin at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in April and May and will end at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October.

The 2020 World Touring Car Cup was the third season of the World Touring Car Cup and 16th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship.

The 2020 TCR Eastern Europe Trophy was the second season of the TCR Eastern Europe Trophy. The season began on 24 July at the Automotodrom Grobnik and ended on 18 October at the Hungaroring.

Jessica Bäckman is a Swedish racing driver currently competing in the GT4 European Series for racing one. She is the sister of fellow racing driver Andreas Bäckman. Jessica Bäckman has previously raced in World Touring Car Cup where she was the first women to achieve World Cup points in the series, and she was recently crowned the Vice Champion title in ADAC TCR Germany.

The 2022 TCR Europe Touring Car Series was the sixth season of TCR Europe Touring Car Series. The season began at the Algarve International Circuit in May and ended at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October.

The 2023 TCR Europe Touring Car Series will be the seventh season of TCR Europe Touring Car Series. The season is planned to began at the Algarve International Circuit in April and to end at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October. It will also feature three rounds of the TCR World Tour.
