The 2016 Italian Touring Car Championship is the second season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 30th season since a national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo. Starting from this year, the championship takes place of Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance and it will be divided into TCR and TCS class. The latter will include cars between 1.400 and 2.000cc, nearer to the production series. [1]

Calendar and results

The 2016 schedule was announced on 23 November 2015, with all events scheduled to be held in Italy. [24] On 23 January, the Vallelunga round was postponed from 17 April to 4 September. [25] On 16 March, the first round in Monza was moved forward to 30 October, while Adria was anticipated to 8 May. [26]

The Italian GT Championship is an Italian sports car series founded in 2003 and organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI). It replaced a previous supercar-based championship which ran from 1992 until 2002 when it was folded due to a lack of entrants. The series borrowed heavily from the international FIA GT Championship in its first few seasons, although additional entries from Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Supercup, and Maserati Trofeo competitors were allowed.

The Superstars International Series was a production-based touring car racing championship held between 2004 and 2013. It was managed by the "Superstars World of Racing SpA", SWR, a company of FG GROUP with headquarters in Rome and sanctioned by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI). FG GROUP, led by Maurizio Flammini, is famous for having promoted the FIM World Superbike Championship from its beginnings in 1988 until its sale to Infront Sports & Media in 2007.

The SEAT León Supercopa was a one-make racing series, organised by SEAT Sport, the motorsport division of Spanish car manufacturer SEAT. It used a modified version of the SEAT León road car, and championships have been run in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Hungary.

The 2013 Superstars Series was the tenth year and final season of the Superstars Series, an Italian-based touring car racing series, featuring the tenth edition of the Campionato Italiano Superstars and the seventh and final season year of the International Superstars Series. The season began at Monza on 7 April and finished at the ACI Vallelunga Circuit on 13 October, after eight rounds. Audi Sport Italia driver Gianni Morbidelli won both the Italian and International championships, with Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris driver Vitantonio Liuzzi resulting runner-up.

The Automobile Club d'Italia is a not-for-profit statutory corporation of the Italian Republic. The club originated through the efforts of Count Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia as the "Automobile Club of Turin" founded in Turin on 6 December 1898. It first became a national association in 1905 when it joined together with other local automotive clubs. In 1927 the corporate body was formed by royal decree, with the task of promoting and regulating the car sector and to represent car owners' interests in the country.

Team Ferlito is a team founded in 1984 in Verona. It is also known with the name Ferlito Motors, a moniker used until 2010 on the team's racing cars.

Romeo Ferraris is an Italian tuning and auto racing team based in Milan, Italy. The team has raced in the TCR International Series, since 2016, and in the FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup, since 2021. Previously the team had raced in the Superstars Series and the Italian Touring Car Championship, amongst others.

The 2017 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship is the third season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 31st season since a national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

The 2018 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship is the fourth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 32nd season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo. The series will begin at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in April and conclude at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in October.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">TCR Touring Car</span> Touring car racing specification

A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to balance of performance (BoP) adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.

The 2019 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the fifth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 33rd season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo. The series will begin at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in April and conclude at the same track in October.

Climbing Italian Championships are annual national championships for competition climbing organised by the Italian Climbing Federation. The first championships was held in 1985 with only lead discipline. In 2000, speed and bouldering disciplines were introduced to the championships for the first time.

The 2020 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the sixth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 34rd season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

Alessandro Giardelli is an Italian professional racing driver he is vice champion of the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup Italy and champion of the Porsche Young Driver Programme in his first season as a rookie. And also competed in the Porsche Supercup, which takes place on the same weekends as Formula 1. He was champion of the Karting Italian Championship, Giardelli is the Youngest driver ever to race in the KZ1 top karting category in Karting World Championship in 2017 at only 14 years old.

The 2021 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the seventh season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 35th season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

The 2022 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the eighth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 36th season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

The 2024 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship is the ninth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 38th season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.
