2022 TCR Taiwan Series

The 2022 TCR Taiwan Series, officially called the TCR Chinese Taipei Series, was the first season of the TCR Taiwan Series. All rounds are to be held at the same venue, Lihpao Racing Park, and started on 29 April 2022 and is set to end on 30 October 2022. Each race lasts one hour. [1]

The THSR 700T is the high-speed electric multiple unit trainset derived from the Japanese Shinkansen family for Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), Taiwan's high-speed rail line. The THSR 700T is based primarily on the 700 Series Shinkansen that currently operates on the San'yō Shinkansen line and formerly on the Tokaido Shinkansen line in Japan, with the "T" referring to Taiwan. The trains were manufactured in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Nippon Sharyo, and Hitachi, Ltd., marking the first time Japanese Shinkansen trains have been exported overseas. 30 trains were delivered to THSR operator Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC), and are in regular service with a top speed of 300 kilometres per hour (186 mph) since the line's opening on January 5, 2007.

The Taipei Twin Towers is a supertall skyscraper development in Taipei, Taiwan. Scheduled to be completed in 2027, it will include two skyscrapers, the taller of which is 369 metres with 74 floors and the shorter of which is 289 metres with 55 floors. It is located near Taipei Station, Shin Kong Life Tower, and Taipei Bus Station. When the complex is complete, the taller tower will be the second tallest building in Taiwan, surpassing the 347.5 metres 85 Sky Tower in Kaohsiung, which was completed in 1997. <span class="mw-page-title-main">TCR Touring Car</span> Touring car racing specification

A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to balance of performance (BoP) adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.

The FIA World Touring Car Cup was an international touring car championship promoted by Eurosport Events and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It has had different incarnation of a World Touring Car Cup held between 1993 and 1995. Following the 2017 season, an agreement was reached for the World Touring Car Championship to become WTCR and use the TCR technical regulations. With titles for drivers and teams only, the WTCR series changed to 'World Cup' rather than 'World Championship' status in 2018.

New Taipei Metro is a transit system serving New Taipei, Taiwan, operated by New Taipei Metro Corporation. The Circular line, Danhai light rail, and Ankeng light rail are currently in operation, while the Sanying line is under construction. There are many other lines in various stages of planning, such as the Shenkeng light rail. Concurrently, these services are connected to Taipei Metro but operate independently.

The 2022 World Touring Car Cup was the fifth and final season of the World Touring Car Cup and 18th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 7 May at the Circuit de Pau-Ville and ended on 27 November in Jeddah Corniche Circuit, however multiple event cancellations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ongoing quarantine restrictions in Asia. On 1 September 2022, the organiser announced the final version of the calendar, adding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as final venues for the 2022 season.

The 2022 TCR Asia Series season was the seventh season of the TCR Asia Series.

Lihpao Racing Park is a 3.500 km (2.175 mi) motorsport race track, situated in the Houli District of Taichung, Taiwan.
