The 2019 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season is the third season of the Premier Volleyball League (16th season of the former Shakey's V-League) that started on May 26, 2019 and ended on November 9, 2019 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan. [1]

Premier Volleyball League Volleyball league

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league with teams coming from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation (CESAFI), and other associations. Since 2011, the league welcomed the participation of corporate clubs and non-collegiate teams.

The Shakey's V-League conference results present the final rankings of each conference in the Shakey's V-League from 2004 to 2016. The league was renamed Premier Volleyball League in 2017. The men's division became the Spikers' Turf in 2015.

All-Star game

Alyssa Valdez and Myla Pablo headed the two teams, blue and red, respectively. The all-star game was staged to generate funds for the benefit of the Help Educate and Rear Orphans (Hero) Foundation. [1]

Alyssa Caymo Valdéz is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for a local club team named Creamline Cool Smashers. She was a star player of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball, where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team, where she is a standout. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Chinese Taipei for Attack Line Volleyball Club. To date, Alyssa Valdez is the most influential volleyball player in the Philippines and is hailed as the Face of Philippine Volleyball.

Myla Pablo is a Filipino volleyball player. She was part of the Philippines women's national volleyball team in 2015.

Reinforced conference

The 2019 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference was the seventh conference of the Premier Volleyball League (34th conference of the former Shakey's V-League ). Conference started on May 26, 2019. Grand Fans Day was held at the Trinoma Activity Center, Quezon City on April 25, 2019. [3] Games were held at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City, Philippines. Philippine Army returned as Pacific Town-Army Lady Troopers [4] and Motolite Power Builders returned with a new set of players. [5]

Filoil Flying V Centre

The Filoil Flying V Centre, formerly Filoil Flying V Arena and The Arena in San Juan, also known as the Entertainment and Recreational Arena of the People, is an indoor sporting arena located in Bonny Serrano Avenue, Corazon de Jesus, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Venues

University of San Agustin

The University of San Agustin is a private Catholic university in Iloilo City, Philippines.The first University in Western Visayas. With 40 initial students, it was established in 1904 as a preparatory school for boys by the Spanish Catholic missionaries of the oldest Roman Catholic religious order in the Philippines during the American colonial period, the Order of Saint Augustine with the help of the order's American confreres. In 1917, it was incorporated and became Colegio de San Agustin de Iloilo. In March 1953, San Agustin attained university status making it the first university in Western Visayas. San Agustin is the first and only Augustinian university in the Asia-Pacific region.

Iloilo City Highly Urbanized City in Western Visayas, Philippines

Iloilo City, officially the City of Iloilo is a highly urbanized city on the southeastern tip of Panay island in the Philippines. It is the capital city of the province of Iloilo where it is geographically situated but, in terms of government and administration, it is politically independent. In addition, it is the center of the Iloilo-Guimaras Metropolitan Area, as well as the regional center and primate city of the Western Visayas region. In the 2015 census, Iloilo City had a population of 447,992 inhabitants, with a 1.02% population annual growth rate. For the metropolitan area, the total population is 946,146 inhabitants.

Ynares Center

The Ynares Center is an indoor sporting arena located along the Circumferential Road in Antipolo, Rizal, Philippines. The facility which has a seating capacity of 7,400 is managed by the Provincial Government of Rizal. Aside from hosting basketball, boxing, and other indoor sports, the Ynares sports center is also use for concerts and other crowd gatherings.

Open conference

The 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference is the eight conference of the Premier Volleyball League (35th conference of the former Shakey's V-League ). The conference started on August 11, 2019 and ended on November 9, 2019 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. [15] Philippine Air Force Women's Volleyball Team returned in action [16] and two new teams joined the conference named Chef's Classics Lady Red Spikers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans (second team of Rebisco). [17]

Metropolitan Manila, officially the National Capital Region (NCR), is the seat of government and one of the three defined metropolitan areas of the Philippines. It is composed of 16 cities namely: the City of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela, as well as the municipality of Pateros. The region encompasses an area of 619.57-square-kilometer (239.22 sq mi) and has a population of 12,877,253 as of 2015. It is the second most populous and the most densely populated region of the Philippines. It is also the 9th most populous metropolitan area in Asia and the 5th most populous urban area in the world.

Philippine Air Force Womens Volleyball Team

The Philippine Air Force women's volleyball team is the official women's volleyball team of the Philippine Air Force. It competes in various tournaments, including the Premier Volleyball League, where it is known as the Philippine Air Force Jet Spikers and formerly, Philippine Air Force Air Spikers. The team is composed of enlisted personnel and reinforced with civilian players from time to time.

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans is a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Premier Volleyball League. The team is owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation.

Teams will play a double-round robin elimination round to determine the final four teams that will advance to the semifinals. [18]

A round-robin tournament is a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. A round-robin contrasts with an elimination tournament, in which participants are eliminated after a certain number of losses.

The conference started on August 17, 2019 and ended on October 12, 2019 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. [23] Defending champions University of the Philippines skipped this conference, while reigning University Athletic Association of the Philippines champion Ateneo de Manila University returned after sitting out the 2018 collegiate conference. [23]

The 2017 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the first season of the Premier Volleyball League (14th season of the former Shakey's V-League). There were three indoor conferences for this season.

The Premier Volleyball League 1st Season Open Conference is the 2nd conference of the Premier Volleyball League. The conference started on July 1, 2017 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City. The tournament will have four new teams; two in the women's division and two in the men's division.

Jessica Margarett "Jema" Casidsid Galanza is a Filipino volleyball athlete player and former captain of the Adamson Soaring Lady Falcons volleyball team in the UAAP. She also played for the Laoag Power Smashers during the 2016 SVL Reinforced Conference and for the Creamline Cool Smashers during the 2017 PVL Reinforced Conference.

The Premier Volleyball League 1st Season Collegiate Conference was the 3rd conference of the Premier Volleyball League. The conference started on September 2, 2017 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City.

Risa Sato is a Filipino-Japanese volleyball player who is currently living in the Philippines and playing in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines for the NU Lady Bulldogs and in the Premier Volleyball League for the Creamline Cool Smashers.

The Spikers' Turf 2nd Season was the second season of the men's volleyball league Spikers' Turf, the counterpart of the women's Shakey's V-League. In 2014, the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision, the organizers of the Shakey's V-League decided to spin-off the men's vision as a separate tournament, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf.

Rosemarie Vargas is a Filipino volleyball player of the collegiate varsity volleyball team of Far Eastern University that plays in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Rosemarie also plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the Premier Volleyball League that debuted during the 2017 PVL Reinforced Conference.

The 2018 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference was the fourth conference of the Premier Volleyball League. Conference will start on April 27, 2018 with a Grand Fans Day at the Trinoma Activity Center, Quezon City, 9 days before its opening ceremonies and games on May 6, 2018 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City, Philippines. PLDT returns as PayMaya after two years of absence in the league and newcomer teams, Tacloban Fighting Warays and Petro Gazz Angels are expected to join the league.
Teams will play a single round robin in the preliminary round. The top two teams after the preliminary round will automatically enter the semifinals round. The bottom teams after the preliminary round will play a single round robin to determine the two teams that will advance to the semifinals round.
