The 2020 World Sambo Championships were held in Novi Sad, Serbia from 4 to 8 November 2020.

Contents

This tournament, marking the 82nd of its kind, included 9 weight categories and three disciplines; men's and women's sambo and combat sambo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only around 400 athletes from 30 countries participated this time.

The Korean FA Cup is a national football cup knockout competition of South Korea, held annually by the Korea Football Association (KFA). U.S. National Team included Buck Deadrich, David Pruzansky and Wayne Baughman. Deadrich and Pruzansky both captured bronze medals

The 2008 World Sambo Championships was held in St. Petersburg, Russia on 13 to 17 of November, 2008. This tournament included competition in both sport Sambo, and Combat Sambo.

The 2007 World Sambo Championships was held in Prague, Czech Republic from 7 to 11 November 2007. This tournament hosted competition in Combat Sambo, and sport Sambo events. The 2009 World Sambo Championships was held in Thessaloniki, Greece between the 5th and 9 November 2009. This tournament included competition in both sport Sambo, and Combat Sambo.

Sergej Grecicho Lithuanian sambist and MMA fighter

Sergej Grecicho, or in Lithuanian Sergejus Grečicho, is a Lithuanian Combat Sambo practitioner, and mixed martial artist who has won six medals, three of them gold, in Combat Sambo divisions at the Sambo World Championships. He also was World Pankration Champion and was a runner-up at the European BJJ championships. He was honored at a ceremony by the mayor of Vilnius for his combat sambo world championships.

Viktor Nemkov Russian sambist, judoka and mixed martial arts fighter

Viktor Aleksandrovich Nemkov is a Kazakh-born Russian sambist, judoka competitor and mixed martial artist. Nemkov won the 2011 World Sambo Championships in Combat Sambo. He is the older brother of Vadim Nemkov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Russian professional mixed martial artist and promoter

Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov is a Russian former professional mixed martial artist. He competed in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he was the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, having held the title from April 2018 to March 2021. With 29 wins and no losses, he retired with an undefeated record.

Islam Makhachev Russian MMA fighter

Islam Makhachev , is a Russian professional mixed martial artist and former Sambo competitor who currently competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Hailing from the Republic of Dagestan in Russia, Makhachev was the combat sambo world champion at 74 kilograms in 2016. As of November 2, 2021, he is #4 in the UFC lightweight rankings.

The World Sambo Championships are the main championships in Sambo and Combat Sambo, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Sambo (FIAS).

The European Sambo Championships is the main sambo championships in Europe, organized by European Sambo Federation. The first championship was held in 1972 in Riga.

Marina Mokhnatkina Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter

Marina Yuryevna Mokhnatkina is a sambo competitor and mixed martial artist. Mokhnatkina is a six-time world champion, two-time European champion in sambo. She is also an eight-time Russian champion in sambo. She has signed with MMA promotion Professional Fighters League (PFL) to fight in the women's lightweight division.

Valentin Moldavsky Russian mixed martial artist

Valentin Igorevich Moldavsky is a Ukrainian and Russian combat sambo and mixed martial arts practitioner. He is currently signed to Bellator MMA where he is the current interim Bellator Heavyweight World Champion. He is also a two-time world and one-time European Sambo Champion in the +100 kg division. As of October 5, 2021, he is #10 in the Bellator men's pound-for-pound rankings.

Yaroslav Amosov is a Ukrainian mixed martial artist, currently competing in the welterweight division of Bellator MMA, where he is the current Bellator Welterweight Champion. As of October 19, 2021, he is #5 in the Bellator men's pound-for-pound rankings.

The Pan American Wrestling Championships is the continental wrestling championships for nations from North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Three wrestling styles, recognized internationally by FILA, have been contested annually since the inception, namely: Greco-Roman, freestyle and Sambo wrestling. Since 1997 women's freestyle is also contested along with the mentioned styles.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov Soviet and Russian wrestling coach

Abdulmanap Magomedovich Nurmagomedov was a Russian military veteran, former judoka and combat coach. In September 2019, he was named by the Russian Book of Records as the most successful combat sambo coach in the country. He was the father and coach of retired UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Sambo Federation of Armenia

The Sambo Federation of Armenia, is the regulating body of sambo in Armenia, governed by the Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan.
