The 2021 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix (officially known as the 2021 Chevrolet Indy Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear Corporation) was a pair of IndyCar motor races held on June 12, 2021, and June 13, 2021 at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan. [1] [2] They were the seventh and eighth races of the 2021 IndyCar Series.

Contents

Marcus Ericsson won the first race for Chip Ganassi Racing, scoring his first career victory in his third season, becoming the 7th different winner in the first 7 races. Ed Carpenter Racing's Rinus VeeKay finished second, with Pato O'Ward rounding out the podium places in third. [3]

Pato O'Ward won the second race for Arrow McLaren SP, his second victory of the season, and his career. Team Penske's Josef Newgarden finished second, with Álex Palou rounding out the podium places in third. [4]

The 2021 Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix was an IndyCar motor race held on August 14, 2021 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. It was the 12th round of the 2021 IndyCar Series. This was also the first meeting at the Speedway since the death of Bob Jenkins. Indianapolis area resident and well-known motorsport broadcaster Jamie Little replaced Jenkins, sharing public address duties with Allen Bestwick. Dave Calabro, who shares duties with Bestwick, does not work the Verizon 200 meeting.

The 2021 REV Group Grand Prix at Road America was the ninth race of the 2021 IndyCar Series season. The race was held on Sunday, June 20, 2021, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin at Road America, a 4.048 miles (6.515 km) permanent road course. The race went to the scheduled 55 laps to completion. At race's end, Álex Palou, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, would take advantage of a disaster-stricken Josef Newgarden to win his second career IndyCar Series win and his second of the season. To fill out the podium, Colton Herta, driving for Andretti Autosport with Curb-Agajanian, and Will Power, driving for Team Penske, would finish second and third, respectively.

This year saw racing return to the downtown street circuit instead of The Raceway on Belle Isle, where it had been since 1992. The race consisted of 100 laps and was won by Álex Palou.
