Two-time defending champion Rafael Nadal successfully defended his title, defeating Kei Nishikori in the final, 6–3, 6–2, to win the singles title at the 2018 Monte-Carlo Masters. It was his record-extending 11th Monte-Carlo Masters title and his record 31st ATP Masters title. By winning the title, Nadal also retained the ATP no. 1 singles ranking.

Dominic Thiem defeated Roger Federer in the final, 3–6, 6–3, 7–5, to win the men's singles title at the 2019 Indian Wells Masters. It was his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title. Thiem became the first Austrian to win a Masters 1000-level title since Thomas Muster won the 1997 Miami Open.

Nadal saved a championship point en route to his record-extending 12th Barcelona Open title and 61st ATP Tour singles title on clay. It became the second tournament at which Nadal had earned 12 or more victories, after the French Open. At three hours and 38 minutes, the final match was also the longest best-of-three-set tour-level final ever recorded since the Association of Tennis Professionals began tracking statistics in 1991. Tsitsipas, who had also lost to Nadal in his first career ATP singles final at this tournament in 2018, was in contention to win his first ATP 500 tournament title on his seventh attempt.

Nikoloz Basilashvili defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–5) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Bavarian International Tennis Championships. After not dropping a set en route to his victory, Basilashvili earned his second title of the season and his fifth career ATP Tour singles title overall. Struff was in contention to win his first title in his first tour-level final.
Alexander Zverev defeated Matteo Berrettini in the final, 6–7(8–10), 6–4, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Madrid Open. It was Zverev's fourth ATP Masters 1000 title, his first since winning Madrid in 2018, and his 15th career ATP Tour singles title overall. Berrettini was in contention to become the second Italian to be crowned a Masters 1000 champion in his first final at this level.

Taylor Fritz defeated Rafael Nadal in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–5) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. It was his maiden Masters 1000 title and second career title overall. Fritz became the first American to win the title since Andre Agassi in 2001, and ended Nadal's 20-match winning streak, dating back to the 2022 Melbourne Open.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Miami Open. It was his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title, and he became the first Spaniard to win the title. The victory also made Alcaraz, at 18 years and 333 days old, the youngest men's singles titlist in Miami Open history, and the youngest Masters 1000 champion since Rafael Nadal at the 2005 Monte Carlo Masters. Ruud became the first Norwegian to reach a Masters 1000 final, and the first Scandinavian since Robin Söderling at the 2010 Paris Masters.
